Come Kevin, you're saying that like $160mil is not a lot of money or as if there is anyone else stepping up to the plate to pay that kind of multiples for a domain portfolios.

None of his names were prime domains, or great domains, or big one worders. Now Lets put the 80/20 rule up. If 20% of his domains made him 80% of the money that leaves about 80,000 out there which are nearly worthless by themselves. How long would it take him to sell 20k names and get close to $150mil ? THan lets factor in time and energy ??

Now lets forget all i just said
$160mil in a bank accnt, making at least $10mil a year from bonds and other tax free investments. That sounds like a pretty good deal.

Time will tell if it was a good buy or a sell but for know Yun Ye made off like a bandid.

Its a fantastic score, no doubt, but I would still argue he would have been better off holding on for a few more years. There's also a better play he could have easily pulled off and netted over 3 times that amount.

isn't that the chinese guy?

which would be what ? Do tell please.

Everyone says he sold to cheap "after the fact" but as slavik says $150+ mill in the banks is plenty of cushioning. . . guess time will tell.

Since the deal has already been done, what play would that be great sensei?

Nima 12-06-2004 09:53 PM

very sweet deal if you ask me... $160+ million is more than enough to capitalize on. I remember a long time ago ultimatesearch took one of our unused domains... luckily it was a shitty one but funny to know how big of a reward they got for what they have been doing.

:winkwink: Like I'm gonna post a technique on that level on GFY for free. Not. That kind of investment banking / M&A strategy costs big bucks.

Awww maaaaaan! Well, I will call you for private council when I buy domain number 99,999. Don't worry, it will be a while before I call you because I'm only at 211 now. :winkwink:

yeah same here, we've let some domains go that ended up with Ult. I've also bought few names from him and sold him a name.

No, it would have worked without this sale happening first.
