So my gf might have a serious medical condition

she told me that her sister just got back from the doctors, and she has something called Marfan Syndrome. basically it is diagnosed through a number of tests, and the individual is usually tall / lanky / skinny (like my gf), has scoliosis, and known heart problems...

she said, "My sister has such a severe case that she could die at any moment from her heart repturing, will probably go blind, and she can't have children"

at this point i'm not too concerned because i don't know her sister all that well... THEN she says..

"It's also genetic, and usually 50% of the parent's children have it". -- well, my gf has a lot of the characteristics associated with marfan syndrome.

you know that feeling when you hear shit like this, that ya get in your stomach and you can't "rest" or feel relaxed, well fuck - that's what i feel now.

i went through the SAME SHIT last year cause she also was diagnosed with Reynauds which is a less serious condition.

so her n' her other sister have to get tested. not knowing is worse than knowing. it's going to suck for awhile until those tests are done, and the results are in.

going to train hard as shit in the gym today, great stress reliever :winkwink:

that's fucked up man I hope the tests come back negative...

:(

Indica 12-06-2004 11:36 AM

aw man, I wish your girlfriend the best. I hope all the tests come back nagative.

galleryseek 12-06-2004 11:41 AM

thanks guys...

what really sucks is that she has had heart conditions in the past... i remember over a year ago i was with her, and her heart started pumping really fast for a couple minutes and she was really weirded out by it - and she also had something wrong with her heart at birth.

i also remember her telling me that she has a slight case of scoliosis..

i also remember on a number of occasions pointing out the fact that her arms and fingers are long (nothing you'd notice if you weren't looking for it)..

she probably has it, and that really really sucks.

in the mental state i'm in now, it seems as though there's no hope for anything - but i know though through experience no matter how bad things can get, it's human nature to adapt and reach a state of stability.

My best thoughts are with her!

I have Reynauds as well, but moving to a warmer climate I have less circulation issues.

Spunky 12-06-2004 11:50 AM

That sucks man...hope it all works out

yeah, that's what we plan on doing. she found out last year, and she is a strong believer in homeopathic remedies - she went to a homeopath specifically for her reynauds and it has helped her to a significant degree.. this winter so far, she hasn't noticed that much of a problem with it opposed to prior recent winters.

marfan syndrome chicks are hot, i dated one a few years back.. like you said they're tall and skinny . though i was a bit concerned when she told me about the heart rupturing thing AFTER we had already had sex, and i was like "so you could've just died right there under me?" -- "yes" , scary to think about

I'm sorry. I hope everything turns out okay for you. Waiting is the worst. :(

I have some stuff going on with my dad this week that will involve some invasive tests and then waiting on the results. We have our Christmas Parade here tonight and some kids I work with are in it. The weather SUX today and I've been running around all morning getting ready for things. I think all the stress about him sort of caught up with me because I've been driving around crying about it all day, lol. I know the people who've seen/dealt with me today probably think I'm a crazy person.

Do her toes/feet go numb and legs turn purple or yellow if it's too cold outside? When I was living up north I couldn't even go out in triple insulated boots for more than 10 minutes without my feet going numb.
