Pat Tillman's death: PENTAGON created hero story...

To make Americans feel good and used a public icon as promtion to their illegal war... a bit like the " Jessica Lynch" fantasy...

Why aren't people fired just like Dan Rather was ?????

Quote:

...
Tillman's voice was heard issuing commands to take the fight to the enemy forces."

It was a stirring tale and fitting eulogy for the Army's most famous volunteer in the war on terrorism, a charismatic former pro football star whose reticence, courage and handsome beret-draped face captured for many Americans the best aspects of the country's post-Sept. 11 character.

It was also a distorted and incomplete narrative, according to dozens of internal Army documents obtained by The Washington Post that describe Tillman's death by fratricide after a chain of botched communications, a misguided order to divide his platoon over the objection of its leader and undisciplined firing by fellow Rangers.

...

The Army's public release made no mention of friendly fire, even though at the time it was issued, investigators in Afghanistan had already taken at least 14 sworn statements from Tillman's platoon members that made clear the true causes of his death. The statements included a searing account from the Ranger nearest Tillman during the firefight, who quoted him as shouting "Cease fire! Friendlies!" with his last breaths.

'''
But the Army's published account not only withheld all evidence of fratricide, but it exaggerated Tillman's role and stripped his actions of their context.

...

During several weeks of memorials and commemorations that followed Tillman's death, commanders at his 75th Ranger Regiment and their superiors hid the truth about friendly fire from Tillman's brother Kevin, who had fought with Pat in the same platoon, but was not involved in the firing incident and did not know the cause of his brother's death. Commanders also withheld the facts from Tillman's widow, his parents, national politicians and the public, according to records and interviews with sources involved in the case.

Pat Tillman is a true American hero. He walked away from a $3.6 mil contract to serve his country, and died in the process.

You ignorant shit, go back thru some of your old cut and paste bullshit, I am confident you will discover that you already pointed out that it was a friendly fire incident.

I don't give a shit what date the Post decided to "break it."

It does not change the fact that Tillman is a hero. So :321GFY

Yes...old news. It has been known...almost from day one...that he may have been killed by "friendly fire"...and was reported as same. Why do you think Americans should be outraged? Outraged about what...specifically?

What the hell is wrong with you?
1*The Pentagon released the information that Pat Tillman died due to friendly fire.
2*The Pentagon released this information a long time ago.
3*Pat Tillman walked away from a $3 Million + contract. I strongly doubt you would give up $3 million for your principles :321GFY

Oh, and by the way, the war in Afghanistan is not the illegal war, and that is according to your buddies in the UN :2 cents:

He is addicted to being an America bashing troll...it provides him with a reason to live yet another day...as he searches and searches for yet another off the wall copy and paste...giggling to himself/herself like a a mad school girl.

Well...the piece of shit seems to have slinked away from this thread quick enough...undoubtedly searching...searching for something negative so he can troll again.
