Laptop/Notebook screen dimensions - Which is better?
So, if you were going to buy a new notebook, which screen dimension would you look for, considering that you want to use it for coding, image manipulation, design, and staring at your bank acount all day.
I would have thought that the (15", 1400 x1050) screen should be quite good, but on the other hand, has anyone got a 17", 1440 x 900 one? If you do, what's good/crap about it? It seems the extra width might be useful in the case of watching movies but that sounds like the only advantage to me. What else is it good for? |
17" should be good.

bigger is better if you are manipulating high resolution digital images.
also if you shoot tethered with firewire and digital camera the big screen can be 15 feet (or more with firewire repeaters) away from you and you can easily do exposure correction without needing to look at your LCD. the big apple is superb. |

I've got a 15.4" widescreen running at 1680 x 1050 - if I was getting a laptop with a 17" widescreen I'd certainly get one with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 :thumbsup

go with the largest screen that you can comfortably afford...

I just picked up the Toshiba Qosmio G15 which has a 17" wide-screen monitor. I do enjoy the size and ultra bright display. Go with the 17".

I have a 17 inch wide screen 1680X1050. It took a bit to get used to, but I love it! :)

I use 15.4 - it's not so big as 17 but it's rather more comfortable to work than with 15 dimension.
