Computer problem - jpegs look like gifs - help!

One of my computers is having a problem, and I can't seem to fix it... all of the jpegs look like badly pixelated gifs. It happens on every site I go to, but just on this computer. I have an LCD monitor, but I'm not sure if it's that or a setting.

Adam (hubby) is away for a while, so I figured I'd come to the place where everyone comes first for medical advice, marital issues, and computer problems :) .

u need to install drivers for your video card!

or RIGHT click on your desktop and click on the SETTINGS tab and try to change the Colour Quality to the highest and make sure that there are some kind of drivers underneath where it says DISPLAY

I tried this... it looks correct. This just started happening recently.

Look for some drivers for your monitor. I notice you've just got generic 'plug n play' monitor installed.

Try uninstalling the video drivers for your card and then reinstalling the video drivers? If that doesn't help and your settings in windows are correct, it possible that your card is toasted or very well on it's way to being toasted.

Go to the monitor makers web site and see if they have the drivers there if none came on disk...

OK, don't ask me, but I messed with the monitor settings and it seems ok now. That was weird... and the bad part is I don't know I did it.
