Metallica is making a new album.

I don't have much information but it's old news at the metallica.com messageboard.

It will probably suck ass again like St. Anger and many of the albums before it, that is why I won't get my hopes up this time.

on a side note however, I think it'd be ignorant of them to completely ignore the wishes of their strongest fans of oldschool and not make a kickass album at least once before they retire.

crockett 12-03-2004 03:25 PM

they should just pack it up... They have sucked since justice for all..

That and their whiny asses bitching about napster pissed me off. I'd never buy another one of their albums.

RRACY 12-03-2004 03:26 PM

Aside from St. Anger I like their other albums. It doesn't seem like the same band without Jason.:2 cents:

I knew the first reply would be someone yappin about napster.

nofx 12-03-2004 03:29 PM

they need to just fucking die already.

metalica, haha, talk about fucking sell outs

'ohhh lets whine about napster because people are stealing our crappy music'

n3in 12-03-2004 03:29 PM

i cant stand metallica, they should just quit now

Ron 12-03-2004 03:32 PM

I liked metallica first albums. Last good one whas "Metallica" from 1991.

All albums after this one (maybe except S&M) sucked big.
They became way to commercial..

They just arent metallica anymore..

Manowar 12-03-2004 03:33 PM

hope they learn some lessons from the reaction to st anger

galleryseek 12-03-2004 03:34 PM

guys - who gives a fuck. we all liked their old stuff.. and you can't deny it'd be fucking great if they put something new out along those same lines.

let 'em sell out, who cares, they were fucking badass, they can do what they want. yeah i'd dislike them if they never put out an album that caters to their initial fanbase, but they're still alive n' kickin - and until they retire, there is still hope :)

they know how nearly everyone feels, that's why on tour they do a shitload of oldschool songs, cause that's what people wanna hear.

they'd be ignorant not to, i really think they will. but who knows :winkwink:

I hopes it's good

Their concerts are still fucking amazing. Me, Moose and a couple others saw them with Godsmack the night before Thanksgiving and it was incredible. Not only were they rocking the house, their stage show is insane as well. I've seen them 3 times now and will continue seeing them with every opportunity I have.

The last album didnt even have Rob on it...so we cant judge the post Jason Metallica until its out....Rob in an awesome bassist who has made some great albums with suicidal tendencies, keeping figers crossed

We had plans on seeing them in SoCal and then something else came up - I knew it was going to be a good show. Sorry I missed it. Will be interested to see what the new album is like.

you honestly think that? how many bands have you seen live?

:1orglaugh

mryellow 12-03-2004 10:47 PM

Rob Trujillo?

Infectious Grooves too?

Bout time they dropped Jason, he was never any good really....

Took me years before I realised he actually played anything....
Whenever he's not playing root notes his technique just makes
he fall outta the mix and u can't hear shit.

I'm sure Rob makes a bit of a difference...
That guy can actually play.

Wiggles 12-03-2004 10:58 PM

i don't even get excited when i hear that, i know for a fact it will be shit.

Project-Shadow 12-03-2004 11:10 PM

I'd be willing to listen to that, have been playing some old school metallica recently.. what happened to them :(

At least they'll do an album tour afterwards.. will see them this time :)

Melvin the Dude 12-03-2004 11:15 PM

They haven't been the same since Cliff died. They did some good stuff afterwards, but they never really recovered artistically. :2 cents:

They aren't going to be cool again, because what made them cool in the first place was their attitude. Now their attitudes are of complete detachment from their fans, they even come across as detesting and looking down upon their fans. What made them cool was that they thought they were peers, they felt honored to play for so many people and took the time to meet people, take pictures and tell them "thankyou for coming". Now, only a select few will meet them and every time I seen them in front of a camera, their attitudes are completely different, as if their fans are being honored by their presence instead of the other way around.

They're not going to change, because they now say things like: "we sell out every show, every seat, every time." - Lars Ulrich. This makes it crystal fucking clear that they're in it for the money, period. Fuck Metallica, they're dead and gone, and they're not coming back. I'll pirate all their old shit, because they're certainly not getting a single penny from me ever again. If someone gave me a pair of Metallica tickets, I'd take them only for the chance to sell them and make a couple of bucks.

St. Anger sucked big timeeeee

I think that was an attempt for them to come out of the closet. Did you see the promo pictures for that album? THEY WERE WEARING MAKE UP! Not stage make up or anything overt, but light chick make up. They were wearing shit like foundation and eye liner. They were also wearing REALLY gay looking clothes. With those pictures and the album called "Load", it made me wonder if they were trying to tell us whether or not they swallow loads.

PS, the music on Load was lame at best.

I'll download it from somewhere FOR FREE and give it a listen just before I send it face first into the recycle bin

NAPSTAR BAAAAD!

X37375787 12-04-2004 02:22 AM

one thing is for sure. one more album like st anger and they will lose a big part of their loyal fanbase, including me. don't get me wrong, I've been listening to them since Justice came out, I love them and live for their metal... but one fuckup is acceptable, another one isn't.

st anger still collects dust on my shelf, no way I will ever listen to that garbage again.

flashfire 12-04-2004 02:29 AM

I thought Frantic was a good song:2 cents:

bluedevil 12-04-2004 02:44 AM

SykkBoy 12-04-2004 02:46 AM

all these years later and I still get a huge fucking chill down my spine when that bass solo kicks in on "Orion"

They didnt make any money off napster, they just shut them down...and it wasnt just them...

Now the record labels actually sue real people and these record labels represent just about everyone:2 cents:

aico 12-04-2004 03:05 AM

i hope they use their new bassists talent - hes the only one in the band still in touch with reality.

bluedevil 12-04-2004 03:15 AM

i apologize

SinisterStudios 12-04-2004 06:57 AM

They better do a better album than that last POS, these guys are basically washed up and have no idea what their fans want anymore. Im an old school metallica fan and wish they would get back to understanding their fans and putting out music we like to listen to.

cocky 12-04-2004 07:45 AM

I thought they were dead....their careers are.

quiet 12-04-2004 07:53 AM

it's been pretty sad to watch them spiral to mediocrity. still, they could come out with something good again. it's a remote possiblity, i guess.

Screaming 12-04-2004 07:58 AM

fuck em. i never listened to them after napster.

Jason had a good reason to leave them. Although, considering they let him bash their ways in the past 3 years in their movie... they might just have realized that they're not done anything but shit in that time.

There is still hope. A last kickass album a la Puppetz or Lightning would certainly mean a glory retirement... sigh.
