You sell/distribute this information and someone makes a beef or a university catches wind - yer gonna get ass raped...without lube.

Go take a look at all post secondary institution's privacy policies in the US. That information isn't even shared between institutions without a signed release from the respective student.

The integrity of academic records & institutional privacy isn't something any university takes lightly.

And frankly, attempting to profit off something that by it's nature must have been obtained by illicit means that intentionally violates the rights of both individuals & integrity of academic institutions is an absolute demonstration of a complete and utter lack of any ethical standards.

when i was in college and living off-campus, i still got a ton of student targeted junk mail (not email). I'm sure my information was shared by the school, but not sure about the SSN#

You academic records weren't...that's illegal without your signed permission. A university isn't even allowed to discuss your enrollment status without your permission.

The minute my son entered college he received hundreds of credit card solicitations, loan applications, military recruitment info, etc.

He merely had to fill out JUST ONE of them and they'd have all the information KRL has that they could then resell and never violate any privacy policy with a college they didn't even represent.

I posted that I only have one outsourced staffer right now. I pay him 3 times what he said he would work for which yes is less expensive than comparable in the US. But he is very talented and just happened to be the one that came highly recommended to me and happened to live in a country with lower wages than in the US. So I don't think I'm ruining the US economy by having 1 single outsourced staffer.

Aeon, think about it - if my kid had filled out even one of these applications, he would have put in "college student" as his occupation and the address where he's attending college. If you don't think there are thousands of databases cross referencing that information, you're fooling yourself.

In addition, cell phone companies, utility companies, even grocery stores get that exact same information when you apply for an account with them. It take milliseconds to know the address you put on there is on a college campus, ergo the chances that you attend college are VERY high.

I've been dealing with mailing lists since I worked for my Dad in the 70's and the information that's out there is 1000 times more advanced now. Trust me, they can know it's a college kid, what dorm he lives in, if he buys beer at the store and what kind of toilet paper he prefers without getting one bit of info from the college itself.

There are no academic records for goodness sakes.

Simply states the college and degree they are telling the employer to be verifiied.

Not their grades and stuff.
