MrJackMeHoff 12-03-2004 02:30 AM

Stick your 200 mb up your ass.. How about that?

Magg 12-03-2004 02:51 AM

Im out of KY :(

fris 12-03-2004 05:16 AM

no one wants cogent, its the worst bandwidth ever

SinisterStudios 12-03-2004 06:06 AM

I have to say all you people here are fools, we have been using cogent bandwith for years now and it is better than any other providers we use. They have only went down twice in over 3 years and have the great customer service. I guess it also helps that we directly peer to them and thats why our connection are so fast and stable. Just because eveyone say you should hate cogent bandwith doesnt mean you have to listen to them like the sheep you all are.

Magg 12-03-2004 07:46 AM

the way it is now Sinister, having cogent in your mix is just as bad as have network downtimes ever 2 minutes.

Thats the way a lot of people see it.

Foundry NAP is Cogent bandwidth?

Magg 12-03-2004 08:54 AM

No, its not, it has nothing to do with our primary network.

Theres lots of people on here who'd buy Cogent and use it for whatever reason. (carelessness) so Im offering this at cost to anyone who wants it.

Not even making a profit off this. $10/Meg lol

coolfuck 12-03-2004 09:00 AM

nice offer

ummm....why are you offering it at that price if you're not going to make any profit? :eek7

Magg 12-03-2004 09:13 AM

To be nice? Its also not bad to have built up commits with carriers, advantageous in many ways.

(Who knows Level(3) might buy Cogent? :1orglaugh)

I would go for that if I could be arsed to move

kmanrox 12-03-2004 09:53 AM

upon doing a lil research, i conclude the following;

foundrynap connectivity:

1 connection to the internet -- ch00pa who is not a tier1 provider -
foundrynap does not have their own network nor do they own their own ips

Any questions?

Magg 12-03-2004 09:56 AM

Care to do a little research on:

RCN
Oxeo
Phatservers

See what you find there.

The bandwidth we buy is multihomed, and all Tier1.
We also have a multihomed setup, with our primary bandwidth and a failover to Savvis directly. Savvis IS a Tier1 provider, and we have a direct drop into their network.

All our equipment and staff are our own personelle, we purchase pre-BGPed bandwidth, whats so bad about that?

You cant just go to ARIN and say, "I want some IPs, gimme".

kmanrox 12-03-2004 09:59 AM

did you just dog out half the ISP's in this industry?

LoL

huh? FoundryNAP = ch00pa?

Magg 12-03-2004 10:07 AM

No, Brisk, one of our internet providers we purchase bandwidth from is hahahahahaha, among with Savvis they are in a multihomed setup we operate out of the Savvis datacenter at the Harborside Financial Center in New Jersey.

This is simply not true. You have to meet certain requirements with regards to ARIN, and pay annually for the IP's.

Additionally, if you do not own your own ips at this time, you are at the mercy of the company that does
better hope they pay their bills or all your clients risk going down...Just a suggestion...if you want to play with the big boys get your shit together =)

Magg 12-03-2004 10:09 AM

Do you want to read what I said again?

Are you saying, Savvis, a MAJOR internet backbone who just BOUGHT OUT Cable and Wireless USA is going to go out business any time soon? :1orglaugh

As I said, we BUY bandwidth from them AMONG other providers. Just as ANY OTHER HOST is a "direct client" of Level3 for example.

Do you really feel the need to confuse people and try and start something for no reason kman?

what, you don't have the cashflow to handle it? you don't meet their requirements? why don't you meet their requirements if that, in fact, is why you can't goto ARIN and acquire ips?

Magg 12-03-2004 10:14 AM

The cashflow? It takes a minimum amount of money to get IPs from ARIN, what are you talking about? Its cheap as shit to get IPs.

Getting IPs isnt just about paying a bill to ARIN, you need to meet other requirements too.

Why do I feel like I'm your mother and have to correct every other statement of yours with the REAL information?

There is NO "big deal" or HUGE downfall in not having your own IPs, youre just another disallunsioned surfer

it's ok to be a reseller of ch00pa... just say it loud... and say it clear... like in the song, k?

Magg 12-03-2004 10:20 AM

Im not the one posting false facts and even misrepresenting one of my statements when you quoted the EXACT thing I said.

Whos correcting who here?

Exactly.

You want me to perform BGP? Big Deal, Ill go drop off one of my routers into a couple rackunits of space in 25Broad, 60 Hudson or one of the NJ Equinix's and get 2 drops from Abovenet and Global Crossing, apply for an ORG ID with ARIN and qualify for the rest of the requirements, and be doing BGP in 2 weeks or less.

THEN what?

webair 12-03-2004 12:54 PM

ohh shit there was drama and i missed it? damn :glugglug

If you think cogent is the best, you really have no clue ...

Ask the speed european webmasters get just for fun .

Magg, with all due respect, you are a reseller of Choppa (and now cogent). You do a good job marketing yourself here, but be honest with yourself and others.

Choppa has a good network, as do a lot of other hosts. Nothing wrong with being a reseller. Almost all large hosting companies started that way. Some even stayed that way.

But you personally do not run this network, nor do you have autonomy or decision making ability about it's design, implementation, and support - all of which you state or imply. That is in the hands of NetTransactions (aka Choppa).

When you say that you have a "multihomed setup", what you should be saying is that your customer?s servers are directly connected to a multihomed network.

It's your business, and you need to do what you need to do, but realize that most people that buy hosting services are smarter than you think.

Luckily we dont listen to what other people try to force on you, Cogent bandwith has always been more reliable for us then the best of the best bandwith and they gave us a /22 what other provider is going to give us that many ip's?. But since we peer directly with them this could be the reason why it is so stable, we actually pier with 3 bandwith providers and Cogent has been the best of them all . But it truely doesnt matter what anyone else says it is what we experience and it could not be the same for everyone. And by the way Who says the Savis datacenter in JC is a tier 1 datacenter, they were when Exodus had it. Now the best NJ choices are Equinix and ATT for Tier 1 datacenter space which we are in both :Graucho

Cogent is not good, I don't understand why people budget so bad on hosting then spend thousands worth of time working their site.

What's the point of having a great site if it's sluggish or down most of the time.

Sorry maybe they are better now but the day I got cogent and Verio out of my network our uptime and speed is hugely...hugely better.

Anyone who would try to start shit about other hosting companies in an attempt to make their own look better has 0 class.

You can fool some of the less technical people here with your bullshit wannabe network admin speak, but as this thread indicates, more people than you think know you are completely full of shit.

My advice to you is give it a rest. You are a little fish in the sea, and it looks like you have caught the attention of some sharks.

Well this further proves you are full of shit.

We went to ARIN and said "I want some IPs,gimme" as you say...and we got them.
Any decent operation (if you want to expend the energy) unlike yourself can get them.

Stop lying to the good folks here at GFY.

What is your paypal? I will send you the money to take the bus here (there is a bus station in front of our data center). You can come and do your own personal "investigation". I will even pay for round trip back to your apartment.

Your best bet is to worry about your own "bidness".
You are making yourslef look like a 18 year old punk ass kid with a complex....did i peg that right?

what happened to Magg? surely he has something to say, or maybe he doesnt...
