Best Small Dog Breeds? DOG LOVERS POST HERE!!

What are the best small dogs?

KMR Stitch 12-02-2004 11:37 PM

Pug.

Do not get that fucking taco bell dog.

And a Jack Russle for being a hyper shit is good.

boner 2.0 12-02-2004 11:41 PM

They aren't supposed to like kids.

Least the compability test i took said no. They dont like kids to pull on their ears/tails and take their toys.

My Jack mix is great, he's going to be 9 and he's still got somewhere around a 5 ft vertical leap on him. The only time he ever snapped at my son was when it got too rough for him.

I've also got an Italian Greyhound and she's amazing, weighs about 9 pounds, runs about 35 miles an hour and loves people and sleeping. The loving people part isn't typical but she's still an awesome dog... runs circles around the Jack.

Irish Wolfhound, don't have one but man it is a big dog.

421Fill 12-03-2004 02:53 AM

I've got a Chihuahua.... they take some getting used to. He's very good with my kids. In fact he's way better with kids than adults. He definitely lives up to his 'ankle biter' reputation when he's scared or a stranger(to him) comes over, but friends of mine have a couple that are very friendly with strangers and would dispell that myth real quick.

I now have the smartest, best dog I've ever owned. She's not a small breed, but I had to let you know what a great pooch she is. I have a 1.5 year old Blue Heeler, a cattle dog of course, but she's incredible. Only 45 lbs., but strong and fast as can be....sooooo smart! In fact, we got her a brand new dog house tonight for MY birthday, go figure. She's awesome!

luv,

Candice
xoxo:thumbsup

(We have two. Linus and Lucy)

bump for the morning group

Peaches 12-03-2004 11:45 AM

Pugs, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get one from a rescue group or a REAL breeder (real breeders go to dog shows and show their dogs, they don't have a couple they breed at home). I'm seeing SO many pugs bred that are so out of the breed standard that's it's scary :(

AND NEVER BUY FROM A PET STORE!!

(soapbox off)

LaurieX 12-03-2004 11:45 AM

Puggle half Pug half Beagle They are cute little stinkers!

Paco, of Large Cash. 12-03-2004 11:52 AM

All dogs are puppies in my books, and neither suck.

Jacks are cool, but useless as an AVY dog (I am the one saving their ass from avalanches).

My favs are NON-pure-breeds, for the simple fact PB are usually plagued with problems, and potentially CRAZY!

Malamute is the best for an outdoor oriented person.

MandyBlake 12-03-2004 11:53 AM

We just adopted a Boston Terrier. He's around 3 years old and about 17lbs. He's the greatest! He's sweet and a true companion.

haha.. they do settle down.

mine is 19 months old now.. still has some puppy to her attitude. She's 18 lbs and barks more like she's 60 or 70 lbs. People that come to the door are waiting to see this big dog when they hear the bark.

RefaStud 12-03-2004 12:51 PM

If your going to get one, The maltese is the best little dog to have around!

I'm glad you said that, lol. I was about to post it and I knew I'd probably get hell. We always had a poodle when I was growing up and they really are great inside/lap dogs. Very sweet natured, don't shed, low maintenance.

A guy probably wouldn't want one, so I'd say beagle. Also great, really friendly dogs.

Platinumpimp 12-03-2004 01:50 PM

I've wanted a black lab since I was a kid .. now that I finally have my own place I'm afraid its not big enough for one .. so I might have to get a small dog or a cat and wait a few years on the lab.

n3in 12-03-2004 02:11 PM

get a yorkie, they are great! :thumbsup

2477 12-03-2004 02:15 PM

Carian Terrier...Same breed as Toto from the Wizard of Oz...I have one...His name is Ozzie. Very smart and loving breed.

jennym 12-03-2004 02:29 PM

Another vote for a Beagle. Mine is very smart, playful, cuddly, and GREAT with my kids. My kids annoy the crap out of her, but she loves every minute of it.:thumbsup
