Charging a cell phone for the first time

For the first time a nice long complete charge is required, I know that.

On the second charge, is it important to let it charge full also???

its best to let it die completely and then charge it fully i believe. i never listen to that because i cant go out one night with only half a charge or it will end up dieing on me, i go through a lot of batteries though.
