A Great Marketing Tip!

About 3 years ago a buddy of mine started a website that helped on relocation and corporate housing (Mainly Real Estate). It started off slow and business was minimal. He optimized his site and it was found in the natural listings...still nothing. He did Adwords and Overture only to lose money because ROI was not there, only lost revenue. He was listed on Realtor.com and other realtor listing sites. Still nothing.

He was at wit's end! It was a great idea that should have sold itself but he wasn't making any sales. People would visit his site but not make the final purchase.

He had done everything to market and promote his site via the internet and only lost money. The whole time he was forgetting about physical marketing. In your hand peices that people pick up and read. If you lead enough horses to water you're bound to find some thirsty ones.

Here's what he did and the cost was minimal compared to his marketing costs of past. He printed up 10,000 business cards and everywhere he went he would put them down. If he went to a bar he would leave them all over the bar and tables. He would leave them in elevators in busy areas. On mailboxes, park benches, anywhere that has a lot of traffic. It took him about 2 months to go through all the cards and it paid off. He created recognition for himself and people were starting to call. He chose not to give his business card to just anyone, he chose to gave it to EVERYONE! Regardless if they asked for it or not, they were getting one.

His business has since grown into a million dollar business and he's living life to the fullest. Remember folks, it's not all about internet marketing. There are still some people out there that need that tangible proof. The warm and fuzzy feeling they get from physically touching something. He realized that the demographic he should have been marketing to was not too internet saavy. Know what you're marketing and who you're marketing it to.

This is actually one of my very first customers and we have grown to become very good friends.

That's true. I myself know a person who did the exact same. It pays off :)
