SIRIUS stock holders whats your plan?

When I heard Howard was going to Sirius Satellite I bought some stocks but didn't really expect it to go up like this so fast and now am wondering what other share holders think will happen.
I keep kicking myself for not buying more shares and at the same time wondering if I should get out now or go for the long haul. I was planning on just leaving it in there untill 2006 but today I will have almost doubled my money in less then 2 months and am kinda feeling like it will start going back down soon.
Whats your thoughts or game plans?

beemk 12-02-2004 08:57 AM

i would take the $ and run.

LROD 12-02-2004 09:00 AM

Stay in for the ride. Have you seen their marketing budget? Go to Hoovers.com to get their financials and company stats. Satellite Radio is on the rise and judging by their marketing efforts, plans and budgets, they aren't stopping any time soon until Satellite radio becomes "household".

Purchase more stock if you can! :2 cents:

"I do not take the money and run, no-no. I've seen where that leads and it ain't a good place at all...."

howard 12-02-2004 09:04 AM

They are saying $12 in the next 12 months

only way it will take a hit is if there is an attack

There should be a nice run up till January--(christmas presents)

Now this would be the SMART thing to do. Problem is I am not smart...lol. Siriusly though (pun intended), if I sell half then I only stand a chance to make half as much if it goes up, my investment was little, only 1000 shares so would you still sell even though you are only risking so little? I keep looking at XM's price of around $36 a share and going hmmm...I wonder if it will get there someday...lol
Thanks for all the other replys to, making my brain hurt even more...lol :)

The only thing that worries me is how much they commited to the NFL, Howard Stern and the new CEO...I don't know if they did overpay but it seems it.....It doesn't seem like the subcribers are jumping in that quick. The stock will eith get buried or go through the roof once stern starts his broadcasts..

what determine whether it goes up or down is the expectations of how many new member they should get and not how many they actually get..

howard 12-02-2004 09:41 AM

so the truth is ---its all up to what the anyalists expect them to get... if siri beats the number it will go through the roof--if the number is under---watch out...

howard 12-02-2004 09:43 AM

and btw--i think sterns date is jan 2006--but i could be wrong--so at least the stock should not go down till he starts therefore I really don't think u could lose till Stern starts...

howard 12-02-2004 09:44 AM

and i only have about 1000 shares too and I am holding...

Poppy 12-02-2004 09:53 AM

I'm holding and deciding if I should buy more.

Twatacom 12-02-2004 09:54 AM

I bought 15 Jan 06 7.50 options contracts at .40, its now at: 2.30

Also, after some initial gains, i bought 10 Jan 06 12.50 contracts too at .50, they are now at: 1.05

I don't have to much of an exit strategy....

I was thinking of putting in some stop limit orders to preserve gains....

Anybody else have a decent exit strategy????

Anyone going to be at Internext???

ytcracker 12-02-2004 09:59 AM

im such a dumbass i sold my sirius two years ago

dropped9 12-02-2004 10:01 AM

Currently I'm in for the long haul... I picked up this baby @ 3.76 and again @ 2.42...

But I tell ya.. I'm really getting tempted by todays highs...

Veterans Day 12-02-2004 10:03 AM

Let me take this opportunity to offer an XM roady receiver and FM modulator for sale, 100 bucks and its yours. Sirius is far better imo

209598065

Oh ya im in for the long haul on Sirius

iBOUNCER 12-02-2004 10:04 AM

I bought a bunch of shares of both SIRI and XMSR earlier this year when Opie and Anthony were talking about going to satellite. They ended up going to XM, which is fine but I held on to my SIRI shares... have made a nice profit so far... my average is $2.60/share.

I'll probably sell at $10 to recover my initial investment plus 10%, and ride the rest.

Sosa 12-02-2004 10:17 AM

I was going to post about the stock a week or so ago and never did. Damn thing is taking off nicely and I wish I had money in this instead of another fucking stock that is sucking ass.

webair 12-02-2004 10:23 AM

HOLD

boneprone 12-02-2004 11:14 AM

Its up around 8% today.

GOD DAMN.......

I sold mine last week thinking it was inflated and figured Id buy back in in a month or so after some of the hype died down..

Bought around $3.40 sold around $6.82

But holy fuck its $7.52 today

WHAT THE FUCK???

Just keeps goin up.

WiredGuy 12-02-2004 11:14 AM

LOL, I know exactly how you feel! I picked up a couple hundred shares and regret not loading up a lot more. So far I'm almost double my return in only 2-3 months but I have a feeling this stock will go up to 15-25 once Stern goes live on SIRI's network. Holding for sure, might consider picking up more shares on its way up.

WG

boneprone 12-02-2004 11:19 AM

The downgrades on the stock are bound to slow it down some.

Most firms are going to be downgrading it soon.

Some have already. But dispite that it still grows.

Its over inflated at the moment.

If you buy now you'd be investing in the short term hype and not the product value or current potential value for that matter.

ITs a bit high at the moment even for its potential.

The slightest news good or bad could swing this stock either way at this point.

But if you plan to go long on this stock, hold it..

But if you are looking for the short term best now sell, and then just wait for another time to buy more. Again its a gamble.

Id just sit on it and not look at the prices.

katdaddy 12-03-2004 09:31 AM

very informative thread! actually I bought some of SIRI as well and I'm playing the waiting game

Sweet yeah a little birdie told me that ! Say Hi to dave for me !

I bought siri and xm like a year ago when there was a rumor stern was going to sattalite... lots money on both and sold them both at a loss. Think I got siri at about 4.50 rode it to 3.80 and dumped it .. later went to 2 and change.. same thing with xm.. funny thing is siri was $80 at one time so it can easily go back to 2-3 bucks, when the hype dies down.. this is similar to otehr current high fliers... TASR RIMM AAPL and a few other retarded stocks that are in the stratosphere one thing I learned though when your in bubble mainia.. It can always move a lot lot further than ya think it could ever go.. in both directions.

with that said I am having a fuckign rocking overall year on the market.. was getting killed but with the rally the last 2 months I am up nice on the year... I invest only in ETF's and index stocks at this point.. I always seem to buy a individual stock right before the ceo gets hit in the head by a meteor.. I figure if I trade index... then everyone has to suffer with me :)

katdaddy 12-03-2004 10:02 AM

what sites do u all visit on a daily basis regarding stocks etc etc?

I am sure you have done the Due diligence on who the new CEO is, and the role he has played in the Entertainment industry.

Mel Karmazin is without a doubt one of ther more influential people in the entertainment space today.

I see Sirius as being the next Comcast, Adelphia, etc. If you think they are going to put on the brakes with audio i would say think again. With the pool of talent they are pulling in and the aggressive tactics they are deploying to build the brand. i definately see this as one of the most progressive and forward thinking groups in the entertainment space today.

With IP delivered content on the horizon, I fully expect to see Sirius with Mel at the wheel to turn the corner into rich media offerings. Keep in mind Mel sits on the board of Movie Link and has a vested interest in the success of digital distribution of full screen video to the desk top, set top box, hospitality industry, and mobile devices.

I think Sirius is going to win this battle folks.

HOLD, what you got to lose on 1000 shares.

I bought AMD almost 2 years ago for 4.86 and just put them away, they are now at 23.29 and I am kicking myself for not buying more.

This was right when I left Jeff and I had my whole retirement fund to play with, F, that could of been alot of money.

So once again, HOLD your SIRI you can make a good chunk of change on it the higher it goes.

Its a hot stock right now because everyone thinks that they need to have it so it is rallying everyday. My only concern is at the shareholders meeting they might bring up the fact that they anticipated hitting 1 million users by the end of they year but they are at 700,000 right now so the stock my lose points when that happens.

cosis 12-03-2004 12:03 PM

I bought a little over 5k shares of SIRI at $3.98 and I am holding. I see this stock hitting $10 by the end of the year.

Actually they surpassed the 800,000 member mark a few weeks ago > http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/041123/siriu...cribers_2.html

After Christmas I can see them reaching 1 million.

Thing is alot of the numbers depend on the Orders being distributed through FORD/GM etc and equipment production. The battle ground is your car fr these 2 companies. Hell these two companies are ging to start fighting over your cell phones soon.

Alot more will be evident after Chrismas.

I got bets on both since neither will be a declared winner for a couple years.

I got in at $2 long time ago.... and I just bought alot more shares at 7.52.... so hopefully will keep on going up.

ToolGuy 12-03-2004 02:19 PM

Another question regarding this stock is how many of Sterns listeners do you all think will fork over the $10 a month when he starts in 06 (maybe sooner by the sounds of things). Numbers I have seen say he has 12 million listeners and some expect 25% of them to tune in for the paid service, do you feel this number is likely to happen? If so what will their stocks due at that point, that could give them a larger audience then their main competitor XM which I would think would have a nice impact on the stock price :)
Wonder if they will offer a special of a month or two free just to get people hooked on it when he hits their airwaves: We're still paying the high premium for our cable channels that we don't use just because we keep forgetting to cancel and it started out as three free months...lol

NichePay_Manny 12-03-2004 02:29 PM

I know I am switching to SATT. Radio .I just checked the stock portfolio looks good I would not sell it yet .Wait untill it breaks $10.it is at $7.55 now.Good luck I have 1000 shares also.:winkwink:

suesheboy 12-03-2004 02:34 PM

I plan to hold onto my share for a while but I will be putting a trailing sell order in case it goes down.

As long as keeps yacking we will be making money on it.

gornyhuy 12-03-2004 02:43 PM

Nuff said.

grumpy 12-03-2004 02:45 PM

smart thing to do is cash your own money plus 10% Leave the rest in the stocks. In that way...you got your money back. You made 10% and how knows what will happen.

IMO, downgrades often mean that the companies downgrading want you to panic and sell them your shares - because they are panicing wanting to buy some at a good price.

Especially in situations like this where you know the company is doing good things with a good future ahead of them.

jabula 12-03-2004 03:01 PM

XM is far superior. Who wants to listen to Howard Stern arguing with his staff for hours & callers calling in who ass lick him sympathizing with him about him leaving. The show will never be like it was in the beginning.

pornguy 12-03-2004 03:05 PM

Got to stick with Lars on that. Sell half. You have your money back. The even if you loose the other half, you lost something that you never really had in your pocket. And if you loose it you can make the lose claim on your tax's

MattK 12-03-2004 03:21 PM

sell some now to lock in your profits, that way you won't kill yourself when it tanks

martyVP 12-03-2004 03:25 PM

i thought oi owned 10,000 shares but i checked and found out that my order for 3.25 was not filled,damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

TheSaint 12-03-2004 03:34 PM

The professional analyists all think its way oversold, the real value is like $3 or $4 or even much less.

Downside:
Everything good that could possibly happen to this stock is already priced in.

Upside:
Satelitle radio is in its infancy. Think Comcast 15 years ago or whenever.

As a long term speculative buy, I think its a good value under $10 if you plan to hold for 5-10 years.

Thats my case - my stock buys are for 10 years from now when I retire.

As a short term play I'd get out soon.

Me, I have a very modest amount. 3000 shares - 1000 bought a few months ago and 2,000 24 hours after the Stern announcement. Wish I'd bought a lot more of course.
