how do i report someone to the IRS?
 

A local interior decorator stole a lot of money from me, (which I later got back through filing a bank fraud affidavit). He contracted out a few people to paint my house and do a few other things. The people he contracted out broke a few things like my chandelier. A few pieces of furniture I bought from him, had scratches, or had dints, or paint missing.
Right when I went to my attorney to try to sue him, he filed bankruptcy because apparently he has been doing this to other customers. So instead of getting refunds, and getting my things fixed, I'm fucked since he has me listed as a creditor.
Here is the thing, he is still doing business, under the table with other people. I don't think he should be able to do something like this, if he refuses to pay me back. How would I report him?

I thik you can just send them an I-9 and submit a copy to the IRS. He'll have to pay taxes on what you paid him at least.

contact the irs and see what they say, im sure they will help u get the ball rolling and if you have a lawyer on retainer then ask him

I would highly suggest you report him to the BBB (Better Business Bureau).

I tried that one time and basically they just put your complaint in a database with all the others complaining...they really didn't do much to help rectify anything :(

IRS will do absolutely nothing. as a matter of fact in a lot of situations the person may come after you and you will get the short end of the stick. i know of an idiot that tried to report someone. IRS will do shit! doesn't matter if you believe me, i can guarantee you IRS will not investigate anyone who you report. it doesn't work like that.

i feel for you, cuz i know theres a lot of assholes in the world. you're better off reporting them to the state where you live who handles contractor license stuff etc.

I'd stay away from the IRS. They'll probably investigate you too.

Just beat the shit out of him when he least expects it....don't be a snitch, because as stated above, the IRS will only red flag you if you call whining about this person. Or, get creative and find a way to get back at him, slowly, something very sneaky where you will never get caught but will cost him a lot of money and be a pain in the ass to fix for a long time. Well my chandelier that was broken is valued at 5k, 12k was stolen out of my bank account. I was late on my mortgage because of this, which was posted to my credit report. So he fucked me over good. I have a wife and kid, so I am not going to go kick his ass and goto jail. All his assets (cars, house) are going to be sold to pay off creditors (which isn't me, but others in line first), so doing vandalism wouldn't do much. But all this money is he making under the table, from selling lamps for $1,000 and couchs for $4,000, I'm sure he would get in alot of trouble by the IRS. Thats why I want to be a narc.

If not make sure you show up for it, if you don't you may miss out.
Do anything you can to postpone the bankruptcy, dispute things or what ever you can. Don't let him just slide through it.

Reporting to the BBB wont do any good either. They just send out a letter and post negative comments on your business name if anyone requests information. We tried that on a customer who owed us money and it did no good. Sorry you got taken!

I have a meeting with the US Consulate here in 2 weeks for someone who let's just say needs a reminder that they should pay me asap. I hope they reported the money they stole from me as income, otherwise they're about to have a nice little audit :)
