Gun Control <-> Auto Industry
What if the Gov't used Gun Control thinking to regulate automobile ownership.... hmmm
There is no constitutional right to own or operate a motor vehicle. 40,000 people die from motor vehicle related events each year, half involve the criminal use of alcohol or substance abuse. A background check and 7 day "cooling off" period shall be required before a person can purchase any vehicle. Any person with a moving violation, drug or alcohol problems or who has caused a collision will be prohibited from owning or using a motor vehicle. There is no practical purpose for having vehicles that can travel at excessive speed. Anything with two or more of the following features will be designated a "street racer and shall be banned" (a)an engine having more than 4 cylinders or (b)larger than 100 horsepower or (c) any vehicle capable of speeds above 70 MPH or (d) having racing stripe(s) or flame(s) or (e) having any spoiler or airfoil affixed to the body or (f) noise altering exhaust manifolds or devices.
All vehicles will be kept in a child and theft resistant location and a "movement restricting device" such as a wheel lock will be required.
Most bank robberies involve the use of a vehicle to get to and from the scene. Vehicle owners and manufacturers shall be held liable if their stolen vehicle is used in the commission of a crime.
What if our gov't treated all law abiding citizens as criminals?
