What's wron,g with epassporte these days?

Using them from day 2 or 3 they existed. Never had a single problem. In the last 2 weeks I have one problem after the other:
-Charges that are made twice (one pending one completed). They say "contact the merchant". The merchant says " we only have one transaction id so we can't help you , go the the card issuer"
First time Kimmy helped me out and the pending charges where deleted but now I just get no reaction anymore :(.

-Just wanted to withdraw money. Money enough on the account. First time I tried the atm said "connection temporary lost", second time I tried "unsufficient funds"

Seriously this is getting on my nerves by now. I can't even get my own money anymore...

I finally got an account there, they rejected my card.

A sponsor opened an account for me. As always i read nothing but complaints about them. Lets hope i wont have any.

I have only used them a few times but from what i've seen there have been more problems as of late...

Seriously: almost 2 years without one single issue, only the last 2 weeks everything seems to go wrong

Take into consideration no-one ever just posts: "Oh yes I just took money out of epassporte and it worked fine" everytime it works. Bad-news always travels faster than good.

I havent had a problem with it to date and am loving it.

Ok fast update: pending funds are cleared. I just wonder why these pen ding charges are happening (or aren't automatically deleted once the final transaction gets done).

Still with the problem that after one failed ATM - transaction no other transaction is passed (exeeded the daily atm transaction limit), but that's only partial an epassporte promlblem I guess

that sucks man, my boy had a problem with epass a while back but shit was resolved.

The pending charge situation isn't really an ePassporte issue, if I looked at it correctly. (Though I did get the other one cleared for you asap once you emailed me -- you need to use kimmy@ when you email me, that other one is for my business eP account and I don't check it much fyi -- )

When a merchant puts an authorization request on an account number, be it eP or B of A or anyone, they have a certain amount of days to redeem the auth, which is turning it in for cash to the interchange system. After the number of days they are allowed to redeem goes by without them requesting the funds, then the auth is dropped and the funds are released.

Different types of merchants have different amounts of time in which to redeem their authorizations and this is indicated to the interchange system by their BIN codes, which is a part of their Merchant ID or Terminal ID when they request the original authorization.

Some merchants use older terminal systems or processing software and sometimes double authorize, or they will redeem for a different amount than they authorized for, such as a restaurant adding on the tip. Their agreement with their bank allows them to do this and there's nothing shady about it, nor is there anything that an issuer can do, since it's an agreed upon part of the card processing service.

When multiple auths are made against an account, the system -- be it eP or a bank -- or an auth is made and not redeemed immediately but is still within the redemption time the merchant has, then the auths sit there until they drop, since technically the merchant could come back for the funds in a few days and if the issuing bank released them prior to the auth dropping, it's possible to put a debit account into the negative or a credit account over the limit.

I was at B of A the other day making a deposit and heard the head teller explaining this to a very irate customer who was pissed that his debit card, and thus his checking account, didn't have all the funds he thought he should have available, just as an aside.

One of the major problems i have with epassporte is that they have 2 seperate rules.

1 set of rules to stick money IN epassporte ( as in no rules )
a diff set of rules to take money OUT of epassporte.

Sure ill hold your hundred bucks , but to get it back you better sign over your first born child..

This kind of crap is SHADY..

ATM limits that change AFTER you pay your yearly fees on BOTH cards.. ( then they offer to up your limit for more cash )

Basically its like you see a new bank , they disclose the limits , details etc, then the nice bank manager takes your $5000 and puts it in the vault..

The next day you come back, to take some money out, and they tell you , " sorry we dont know you " , so you show them the i.d. you signed up your account with, and they say , " sorry we need your library card " and your like " um i dont have one you never asked me for a library card " and they tell you "sorry we cant give you any money without your library card," So you go get a library card, come back and they tell you " sorry we also need some other id " , so you go get another id and come back.. Now finally you have all the id that they never asked you for to signup your account and you go in to get out $1000. But the teller tells you " sorry we have limits on the amount of your own cash you can get back " You can only take out $400 at a time.. and BTW its time for your yearly fee..

While I never withdraw money from ePassporte, I have to say that over the last week they have really impressed me with their willingness to help.

MrJackMeHoff 12-01-2004 02:28 PM

Epass is ok.. I have seen that double charge crap too its fucking annoying.

I have to epass regularly and other than the loading crap which I hate it works ok for me.

We have not had one single problem yet. They have great support for any questions I've had. So far so good.:thumbsup
