I went to a fwe Jays game this summer (I just drink a lot, I mean a lot) and I remember thinking in my Alcoholic haze 'this place is a piece of shit' A Far cry from out 1992 World Series Champs! Oh and J.P Ricardi hates black people....Delgado is sooo gone. |
something doesn't sound right.
then again the building is outdated by major league basebal's standards- it's really only a good venue to promote concerts and special events. Still, 25 Million is so low... |
GREAT fucking deal!!!!
if i woulda known I woulda bought it! :Graucho |

Does the Rock still play there or have they moved to the ACC? Lacrosse is one of the last REAL sports..... |
talk about being in the right place at the right time
|
It's amazing, I was reading a while back that the skyboxes were on 10 year leases back in 92 so in 2002 they came due. Fucking 50-75% of the companies did not renew their boxes, plus obviously the raptors moved over to the ACC with the leafs. So huge revenues were lost and very little happens at the skydome except for the odd concert, huge convention or the jays.
It's sad because in 1992 that place was considered the stadium of the future. People used to go on class trips just to get tours of the building itself. I remember them saying if you flushed all the toilets in the skydome at the same time you would have the amount of water flowing over niagra falls for 8 seconds. DH |
What a deal Never saw something similar
|
even the argos were trying to rebuild varsity stadium. nobody wants anything to do with the skydom. But it does look great when you're driving by on the gardener express way.
|
I heard $30 mil.
|
|
damn, rogers is on shopping spree, just recently they bought out Fido for 1.4Billion
|

The place is a bottomless whole , a huge money lossing venue. Why do yo think they sold it so cheap? They are probably laughing their asses off having found a sucker to pick up the place. I would bet in a few years they will be begging the public for funds to bail them out:321GFY

Wasnt that a few month ago.
Heard that already, sorry if someone posted that already |
Must have been hard times for the owners. Selling for that cheap.
|
it is not about the skydome, but about a hugeeeeeeee peace of land right in downtown toronto
|
damn
at that price I'm really jealous what a kick ass deal |
what a deal
he will straight get rich on that |
Definitely the Steal of the Century, when you consider the story goes that Paul Godfrey helped influence then Premier Bill Davis to build the SkyDome at a cost of $600 million of taxpayers money in the hope that it would attract an NFL Franchise to Toronto. Later on Premier Bob Ray unloaded the SkyDome for $100 million and now Paul Godfrey is back in the picture as head of the Toronto Blue Jays division of Rogers, who reportedly are trying to buy the Dome for $25 million. Way to go Paul! Don't think Toronto is quite ready for the NFL yet. Maybe it's time to build another Super Dome! Get Dennis McGuinty to loosen up the purse strings.

Ugh, that just isn?t right. Surely a lot of tax payer dollars have helped to build it.
|
I wonder what they plan to do with it.
|
God damn, thats less than 10% of the cost of that place :1orglaugh
