Celeb sites: are there too many now for the niche to ever die out?

If a celebrity wanted her pics off the internet what chance does she have? Next to zero. She'd have to email all the sites individually and ask for them to be removed. And by the time she's got one webmaster to take her pics down, another 10 have put them up again.

So most celebrities don't bother (Alyssa Milano's mum is an exception but despite her efforts there's still tons of Alyssa nude pics on the net).

So given how it's practically impossible to police, does anybody think there will come a day when webmasters will be too scared to put celeb pics on their sites and the niche will die out? Or will the everlasting fascination with celebs mean the sites continue to spring up and be profitable despite 99.9% of them technically being illegal?

dunefield 11-27-2004 03:22 PM

i think more and more celebs want their tits hanging out and have their private home vids released to the public...

BlackCrayon 11-27-2004 04:12 PM

i used to get an email from different celeb's laywers every few months. i can't remember them all but Alyssa Milano was on obviously and Jennifer Love Hewitt was another that i can remember. then there was that guy who thought he was somehow in charge of all copyrighted material online, forget his name. a real waste of time tho. anyhow celeb sites are how i started, back in early 99-2000 i was making over 10k/month with only 2 big free sites. tho as the years passed income kept dropping and the amount of ppl posting celeb pics all over the place increased. i don't think ppl are so willing to pay for them anymore. SE spammers love to use celeb pics it seems and then have tons of pop ups and impression/click sponsors that are non adult. i've mostly given up on the celeb niche, i haven't bothered updating the sites in almost a year now. its just not the cash cow (for me at least) that it used to be.

wes 11-27-2004 04:25 PM

never promoted a celeb site.

especially the ones that are becoming more and more "forgotten" or just need more attention. (watch for the Anna Nicole Smith video soon lol)

And yet their pics are still plastered all over the net despite their best efforts.

So what chance do celebs have of stopping it? I can't ever see a way to stop celeb sites. The 'authorities' have their hands full trying to stop pedos and spammers before they worry about celeb site owners. :2 cents:

I wanted to try celebhound but heard it shaves hard...is it your site?

revsharerewards 11-27-2004 06:23 PM

Celebs still works - and works well for many.

Their is an OLD adage:
There is no such thing as bad publicity

And that same old adage works just as well today as it did then.

Like ANYTHING, celeb banks if done well, with a key advantage that there is a load of mainstream crossover to enhance conversions - MANY who would NEVER join a pornsite will join a celebs site if they have the reason to.

Look for value for the surfer AND value for the webmaster and QUANTITY and QUALITY of content.

And then, again like anything, work it.

:thumbsup

LOL, where did you hear that, I should sue for slander! :winkwink:

Yes it's my site and no, it doesn't shave. The processing is done by SexKey, one of the oldest and most respected names in the industry.

Basically you register Nude Celeb Hound as your own SexKey site and keep the $20 join. SexKey members of my site get a lot of content (pics & videos - way, way more than the average AVS site), but I also upsell to an archive area of Nude Celeb Hound that contains 5gb of celeb clips and 20,000 pics. And quite a lot of them upgrade cos it is a good deal, which is where I make my money. So in effect my affiliates are driving credit-card wielding surfers interested in nude celebs to my members area, that's all.

Absolutely no shaving goes on, it's a regular SexKey site at the end of the day.

Why did you think we shave?

punker barbie 11-27-2004 06:34 PM

Celebrity sites still convert like a mad mofo and always will. the difference between XXXCash celebrity sites and others is we work closely with Alyssa Milano's mother Linh....

Fuck mate - an honest operator !!!

I thought we were the only ones !!

Hats off to being fully open about how you operate.. we should talk, because I love doing business with straight up people .... send me an email to postmaster @ celebsunzipped.net

Apart from that, people, Steve is 100% straight up about the way he works - send him traffic because that is the sort of honesty that can be trusted !!!

:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

MakaveIi 11-27-2004 06:58 PM

Punker Barbie .. how do you work with her mom?

I'm interested in hearing this .. the only scenario I can come up with is some kind of royalty check? but, royalties should also be paid to the mags/movies/etc that her content gets ripped from, if you are paying the celeb that is featured within.

Thank you for your kind words! :)

No reason not to be honest, I'm happy for people to know how it works cos it's a win-win situation: affiliates get $20, I get upsells, SexKey gets loads of new webmasters and surfers get the huge amount of celeb content they're looking for. :thumbsup

PS - revshare, you have mail :glugglug

maybe im just jaded because of the numbers i used to get but when i talk to some of the guys who had some of the first big celeb sites, they say they are getting by but sales are no where near what they used to be...i guess the same could be said for almost any niche but when 1:700-1000 is good for me, i say fuck it.

anyways to the oringinal question, yeah i don't think you have to worry too much anymore about celeb lawsuits. if a celeb complains, just take down the pics and don't use playboy pics and you'll be fine. celebs don't seem to care near as much anymore.

fris 11-27-2004 07:22 PM

with the right traffic celebs will convert, and using the right content

Ah, you mean this thread where one of my affiliates got mad when SexKey took away a couple of his joins which turned out to be fraudulent. That is standard practice and totally above board, a SexKey rep posted explaining it and basically it was all a misunderstanding.

Anyway, I don't have ICQ. Please email me: affiliates (at) nudecelebhound.com if you wanna talk :)

Well i still like celebs and continue with my sites but the same sites that made me $10k monthly 4-5 years ago make me $2k monthly now. Still i dont want to give up on them :)

Your site is pretty cool and the model is unique from what I have seen. Do celebs ask you to remove the movies they were in? I mean doesnt your site use a model like Mr SKin where you are promoting the sale of the actual dvds?

BTW what % of people take the upsell?

I started out in this industry with my own celeb paysite... hollywood-sex.com. coverted at an amazing 1:10, using globill as the processor. Lasted about 2-3 months before globill stopped processing celeb sites and then my host shut me down cause they had a threat of a lawsuit. I was 13 at the time... those were the days :)

That is a big problem to us celeb webmasters these days - finding decent billing processors :(

lol, my parents actually wouldn't even hook up the net because they're like "you can't go on the internet there's porn there" LOL... I ended up cracking a couple of ISP's, MSN, GTE, and AOL to name a few before I finally got a broadband connection. Credit card security was so lacking back then... there's a special mathimatical formula you could use to generate credit card numbers and that's all you needed back then. Had free access for almost two years :)

P.S. that same formula got me in the back end of sites like babylon where I stole all my celeb content :1orglaugh

It was pretty easy to make mucho $$$ in ANY niche back in those days.

I think the celebrity niche has changed a bit over the last few years, from careful curiosity to obsessed paparazzi. I run a few SE celeb sites and get conversion rates between 1:100 and 1:1000 depending on the site ... it still makes money, and its alot easier to stand out among a crowd of other porn sites when all the others are saying 'hot blonde girl gets fucked up the ass', and yours is shouting out recognisable celebrities who are caught doing naughty things.

Ever since the Pam and Tommy tape, sex tapes have been the 'big thing', when one comes out, it gets advertised to death and loads of money are made on it while all the lawsuits are held up with paperwork, that by the time its over it dosent matter anymore.

I think the only thing that might happen with celebrity content is if the sites that run them fall under some sort of 2257 or copyright breech.

Anyway, that said Id reccommend http://exposed.paparazzifilth.com run by JuicyBucks.com any day, the sex tape specific site converts the best for me.
