What was the first porn/adult site on the web?

Is it still around? I know that there were adult bulletin boards years before Al Gore invented the web as we know it :1orglaugh But what was the first porn site with actual content.

Dalai lama 11-27-2004 03:17 PM

I was thinking the same thing. Low quality pics and 10 second vids maybe that took hours to download on 14.4 modems, or if ya had tons of money, 28.8 :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Good question.

demented 11-27-2004 03:33 PM

Yahoo profiles. I can remember back in 95, before I even had a computer, going to the library just to browse Yahoo profiles and look for pussy, lol.

Then when I finally got my first ever computer (a packard bell LOL), what was the first thing I did? Went to Yahoo chat, and browsed profiles LOL. I thought that was the only way to see some ass on the net.

Mr. Mike 11-27-2004 03:37 PM

The guys who started adultcheck.com had a couple sites before that, I cant say they were the 1st but they definetaly were amongst the 1st round of poeple online.

Steve_NCH 11-27-2004 03:38 PM

Great question, I'd love to know too. Would be interesting to compare to today's sites.

KRL 11-27-2004 03:38 PM

Compuserve and Prodigy had picture forums.

I and a few other audiotext guys posted bikini style pics with phone sex numbers on them in the GIF image sections.

I think that was the beginning of the onslaught of what was to become online porn.

Then USENET started and the pic postings went there.

Around 95, 96 and 97 was when the first Net sites that were adult appeared.

I bought an adultcheck gold id back in 97 or 98 I think. Lost it and tried to get it sent to me but they said they had no record of my transaction. I did it by Web900 I think. Fuckers! :winkwink:

Jeff aka NIGHTfall 11-27-2004 03:41 PM

Whatever happened to Packard Bell? You saying that just brought back all sorts of weird memories. :)

slapass 11-27-2004 05:01 PM

The newsgroups were like an endless source of free porn. I rmember people bitching out watermarks on the pics and banning people for that. It had to be non commercial (stolen) pics or you were out. I doubt a paysite could make sale off of those cheap fucks.

DickShoke 11-27-2004 05:02 PM

persiankitty.com was the first porn site i ever heard about

DARPA had way more to do with the internet as we know it today, but no one really "invented it". Anyone who claims they did (as CERN does) is full of crap. Its kinda a conglomerate of ideas from multiple sources.

Credit CERN with the Web, not the Internet itself.

Everybody knows the Internet was invented by Al Gore anyway.

- Jesus Christ - 11-27-2004 06:16 PM

Pusslover AL gore never made that claim.

Thats republican propaghanda.

And define the WEB? :1orglaugh

I knew that would get a rise out of someone :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Actually I think Al tried to lay claim (at least in part) to being the father of the Internet in some way. To be fair, I'd really have to reseach the subject a bit. He was in congress and may have sponsored a bill or voted for it....

Drake 11-27-2004 06:23 PM

Good question, too bad no concise history of internet porn exists (that I'm aware of).

It doesnt get a rise out of me, Im laughing becasue its so complelty abstract you could say the first time 3 computers were ever connected in any way was the invention of the "web"

and claims like this (from thier offical site) are laughable.
http://public.web.cern.ch/Public/Con...eb/WWW-en.html

Its a bunch of abstract gibberish... I already linked you to a document that shows the first real coherent internet design.

and nope..... you wont ever find any claim like that by gore.

it is propaganda.

pussyluver 11-27-2004 06:25 PM

Your second question: Define the web?

Today the web is defined by W3C specifications. It is a mthod of exchanging information of both text and graphics over the Internet. It is a collection or a suite of protocols covering every thing from FTP to SMTP and XML.

w3.org is a good place to start if you care.

"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet."

Sounds like a claim to me : )

- Jesus Christ - 11-27-2004 06:28 PM

Again... all completely abstract.

And still funny.

"the World Wide Web represents the resources available on the Internet"

so Tim Berners-Lee invented recouces available... on somthing that didnt exist?

:1orglaugh

sorry...

You're not related to "theking" are you? Saying the WWW wasn't invented by anyone because it uses the internet is like saying the fax machine wasn't invented by anyone because it uses phonelines.

How many times do I have to say it? If you MUST say it was "invented" by somone, it was DARPA and I've repeatedly linked you to this document.

http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc791.html

Yet you want to keep ignoring it and ponting at a company who claims that Berners-Lee intented the "web"

on a webpage with apple computers on it. :1orglaugh

http://public.web.cern.ch/Public/Con...eb/WWW-en.html

its still funny.

Not sure what you mean. The Internet exsisted long before the web. As JC pointed out with his reference to DARPA.

Right... and if Bush said something similar, you'd be all up in his ass about it.

Delusion? I would think that trying to seperate the web form the internet is more of a delusion.

"The Web" an abstract Idea that connot be "invented".

And its funny becasue this all started off as me simply trying to defend a weak jab at the US

Not to mention it's in bold in the link that Jesus Christ himself gave - http://elsmar.com/ubb/Forum37/HTML/000030.html

To be completely honest, Al Gore made a statement that was a little disingenuous and self serving, and republicans ran with it.

i blame Gore, he set himself up by trying to take any credit at all. He had nothing technical to do with it, at the very least, and he slid right past giving credit to anybody who really deserved it

Wolfy 11-27-2004 06:49 PM

funny how "who remembers the first porn site?" devolves into "Bush!$#$#%%&%# Gore!$%#@$$^#" "Barrrrrrrg!" aint it ;)

Please pretend that the following is being read to you in a slow monotone used for communication with stupid people:

The WWW is not the internet.
Email is not the internet.
Telnet is not the internet.
FTP is not the internet.
Usenet is not the internet.

Each is an entirely seperate set of protocols that allows information transfer USING the internet.

HyperText Transfer Protocol (the WWW) is a set of protocols that were invented by a guy called Tim Berners-Lee at CERN in the late 1980's/early 1990's. These protocols utilise the internet to transfer information.

Understand yet?
