Investment Op

Ok, well this is for me, not you.

So, I have a great friend of mine from Warton who recently started a new company. To make a long story short, he has an excellent roledex, another partner from Yale with an excellent roledex, and has just asked me to come on as CTO, and visionary of there first product. Now, granted, the product to me isn't that difficult, however the industry they are in I have no clue about. All I know that there are 3 people, 2 of which are both Ivy's and have 20+ years experience in there industry.

Now, if this was you, and remember, I currently have a business working very well, would you accept?

Depends. What industry is that? How much would you make? Stocks? Options? (take decent money man).

I'm personally open to new adventures. My last one wasn't successful. I moved to Arizona as my startup company merged with a local company here (all mainstream, I was out of the adult industry for 3 years). Unfortunately, my business partner and best friend for 10 years screw me big time. But that's life man.

Anyway, tell us more :)

If you can manage to juggle both your business and the position your friend is offering, sure, why not?

Hard question.. It all depends..

I don't even do adult, I have a mainstream advertising network. This buisness would be in Insurance. Essentially getting started, I think I could manage both projects, however I would probably be working on a equity (stock) basis for their project. Thats the tuff part. I think my mainstream ad network is cool, but I mean its not 10 mill cool. Or even larger...

I guess my thing is I get pitched a new stupid idea every month. Loosers with nothing going for them telling me how their scheme will make money. I have never been pitched by a Warton guy, and for some reason, I beleive it. Maybe I am worried its the brand name on this one...

I wouldn't take [only] equity in this type of new business, if you ask me. But again, I don't know all the variables, people involved, etc.

And also, from just my own experience, I don't believe in "great friends" and "best friends" anymore. When it comes to business it means SHIT. Them believing in a project is not an indicator to its success. Actually, they tend to never think rationally, I think.

You know, your probably right. The only thing I can think that still keeps me interested is that these guys all worked for top insurance carryers and have roledexes with industry CEO's. I know for a fact, I have been to his house here in Seattle with him a few years ago.

So, it's not like these guys are green. They just are green at Tech stuff and developement, where I come in. My team is pretty solid, and can make what they want for a pretty low cost. I guess my work and money spent probably wouldnt add up to a whole lot, but then its obviously a ton if nothing good comes from it.

You can definitely try and see how it goes. :)
