is this a subscription based thing or do u just plug it into your internet and roll?

unlike the PS2 which is free of charge, you're gonna have to pony up some cash to Bill Gates if you wanna play online.

It's only like $50 a year or something I think.

Its like $3 a month lol. But most games come with a code that give you 2 free months. So if you buy Halo 2 you are good to go... for a while.

It's not too expensive . I doubt the money covers the cost

You could also check out xlink which is a free online gaming service for ps2, gamecube, and xbox.

I dont know if they still have the promotion but i got 1 year free after buying it for $35. Now they charge me $50/year after i used up the free year. Def worth it!
