What is the best video card that supports dual monitors?

Any of Gforce's or ATI's new line have dual display?

I checked out most of ATI's new lineup today (I had to go video card shopping due to my new motherboard being PCI Express :() and I didn't see any that didn't support dual monitors.

Most have a DVI port where you can put a converter ( you usually get the converter in the package.)

I used to have an awesome ati 6800 with dual monitor output, and it rocked!

However, just about any ATI card supports dual moniters, get a tiny little adapter for the DVO jack, and away you go. It works beautifully.

I think he wants a card with dual DVI jacks...atleast that's what i'm looking for...

why use RGB when my montor support DVI..

well he's going to have to splash out on two graphics cards then.

I have an ATI radeon 9800 pro that does dual very well, it's getting a bit old but there is nothing that doesn't scream on it.

I swear by the matrox parhelia or the Nvdia XGL 980

I have a radion 9800 pro and it's a pile of shit.. This is the second one I've had had to send the first one back becouise it kept leaving artifacts all over the screen. This one I should send back as well but I don't have a spare at the moment. The damn thing locks up in games, crashes and gives the radion drivers as a reason and if playing some games. Then in others the monitor will go into sleep mode in the middle of a game which requires a reboot to bring back up because nothing else will bring it up.

I had a Gainward geforce 4 TI4600 before this and it was great.. However it was fried along with a few other things because of a faulty power supply.

If I bought another it would defiantly be the G-force and it would be one made by Gainward as they are the only one's that offer dual DVI outputs. So you don't get stuck with one DVI and one VGA output.

here you go dual DVI's

I sometimes get those artifacts when my system is running hot. Do you have a custom cooler on your card, or just the crap it comes with? It might be worth checking out your running temp when you see some artifacts or weird action from it. I have my case open and a pipe from outside pumping cool air into the system, and it still goes up to 80 celcius and fucks up sometimes.

crockett 11-26-2004 06:51 AM

na man that was the first one they sent me.. as soon as you turned the PC on it would get artifacts all over the screen.. so many to the point you couldn't see what you were looking at. I sent that card back and it was replaced. Now the new one crashes and the moniter goes into sleep mode while playing games. I've tried every possible driver combo all with the same resualt.

btw here is a big bad ass video card..

can't wait until they decide to build some custom dual AGP boards and build something like this with dual AGP support..

Thanks for the replies.

I want to hookup two LCD's, for example the Samsung 910V's.

Do you think it's important having dual DVI's?

I could probably just hook up the LCD I will be playing my games on to the DVI port and the other LCD to the RGB port.

Anyone have any feedback on how their dual display works for them, benefits etc.?

well my theory is why have to convert from VGA to DVI when you can get two DVI's? That's why I always liked gainwards G-Force cards, they were the only ones offering dual DVI's on mid range boards. They also come with to VGA adapters just in case you don't have two DVI monitors.
