Pistons-Pacers Brawl: How much $$$ will the 'assaulted' fans get?
 

Several of the fans who were pushed/shoved/stuck by varying Pacers team members are waiting to file civil suits (piggybacking on criminal investigations).

How much $$$ do you think they will collect?

Normally, attending a sports game and being hit by game-related events like a foul baseball or errant basketball does not result in a legal right to collect because of the theory of ASSUMPTION OF RISK.

However, AOR does not apply here since players do not normally charge the stands to kick ass. Nor would a fan be reasonable in assuming such a risk since they normally attend matches just to watch.

I may be wrong, but apparently MICHIGAN law is more restrictive than California law when it comes to tort damages. The plaintiff would have to have suffered actual damages not just embarassment/emotional distress.

The guy who ron was after who didn't throw the drink, is taking it to the bank.

The first guy who got assaulted by Artest will get 500k at least. He didn't throw the drink, nor did he provoke the fight in any way. The bozo who nearly got killed by Jermaine O'neal won't get as much because he was on the floor (where he didn't belong), and he clearly wasn't backing off.

We probably won't hear about it publicly
