If you run a mainstream site, post here

Post your niche. No need to drop URLs.

I do mostly academic resource sites. Also working on a new search engine.

Post your projects/mainstream niches.

BoNgHiTtA 11-24-2004 01:34 AM

I DO

However, I am not posting it, sorry.

But ill brag about it. Its a niche advertising network, mainstream, and I have count em 4 employees!

Thanks

Thinking about trying mainstream. I have a friend who started a book exchange online with the local Los Angeles colleges and he is making about $80,000 a year after taxes and has 2 $40,000 a year employees who also attend 2 of the colleges. I thought he was an idiot and he offered me a pitch to help set it all up since I could have...

Now I am thinking fuck, another holiday season and me without a fucking mainstream site.

Of course, he chose to find a niche where it is pretty much a year round ordeal.

Real estate sites,
Import automotive sites,
Racing Information sites (JGTC),

Have a ton of projects in those 3 fields slated right now.

JGTC =

Japan Grand Touring Championship.

Big overseas, coming to America december 18th for the first time. Own quite a few choice domains for that project. It will be the nascar of import fans essentially.

V_RocKs 11-24-2004 01:38 AM

How about some gross/net figures on what mainstream is making you?

Sending mainstream traffic to porn sites :1orglaugh

Actually I run a bunch of mainstream sites. My favorites are my gaming and marketing sites.

Definately something good to have if people ask you what you do.

I hear ya. No need to post the url.

I have about 50 other mainstream sites I want to put up over the next year. Thank goodness for my outsource labor army:thumbsup

Eventually my goal is to put up 200 or so online businesses/directories/ref services. Goal is to have each generate $2K and up of revenues.

Sosa 11-24-2004 11:22 PM

i keep thinking everyday I need to look into mainstream more and more. Gaming sounds cool, magazine subsciptions etc would be alright too I would think.

Yep, good move. A diverse online properties portfolio hedges against income turbulence. I used to get all my traffic and income from one place 4 years ago. I learned the hard lesson of the need for diversification.

I didn't want inventing spyware to be my lasting legacy so I've been working on a mainstream software application for some time now.

The software I've got now has been shown to only a handful of people in this industry and even fewer mainstream companies - but each one that has seen it has told me the same thing - it will change the way people shop and manufacturers buy advertising.

There is a HUGE market in mainstream I'm about to enter - manufacturers spent more than $250 billion dollars in 2003

One of the companies (and the leader in what I'm doing) I'll be competing with directly has done over 450 million/year in sales for the last 4 years in a row and they're only providing .03% redemption ratio's for their customers.

My stuff guarantees 100% ratio's and control/stats that they've NEVER had - needless to say, I've dropped a few jaws :)

I'm in the process of lining up investors but without signing an nda/non compete that'll make your ass pucker and the ability to invest 6 figures - you don't get to see it yet
