some suggestions for Men.com
How can you have a "definitive' men's magazine site without sports?
These are the topics i would expect to see if i made a men's portal: 1. Girls 2. Sports 3. Food 4. Technology, electronics 5. Home improvement 6. Cars, customizing, auto repair 7. Video games, cheats and tips , card games, Poker 8. Anything mechanical, technical, do it yourself type stuff 9. Jokes (dirty jokes) 10. Movies 11. Computers, bulding, repair, software I'm not interested in style fashion tips and trends or skin care if i was gay or a girl i would be:1orglaugh I dress nice i pick out my clothes and i'm done with it. As far as my skin i wash it and use aftershave anything more into it IS gay:1orglaugh Just suggestions and just my opinion. The layout looks real good and the logo is awesome:thumbsup |

If I had control of men.com I would make it a free membership service. Although guests can still have the ability to read articles across different subjects (ie sports, health & fitness, dating & relationships, auto, etc etc) - but a membership grants access to limited versions of men.com services for each subject. Which they're already doing right now, they are dealing with IwantU.com for personals (dating), bodygain.com and top names in fitness for health & fitness, a big auto site for cars.
they are definitely on the right track, but as KRL said, he wants to get it out there to make use of the traffic - even if it isn't quite complete and deals haven't gone though. the ONLY thing lacking in my opinion is the design, but what can I say, i'm a designer and I'm biased ;) (and i entered the contest n' didn't win!!) oh they also need to SEO it, structure the site in xhtml/css and really orient each page for the SE's. |
You guys seem to have some decent ideas. Ofcourse its Krls domain so we all have to settle with what he does with it :1orglaugh

Thanks for the advice guys. There's lots more stuff that the content team hasn't finished yet that still has to go on there.
I do have a long term plan so trust me on that. You don't go out and spend that kind of coin and not have your maneuvers sketched out ahead of time. |

either follow a gq trend for a higher upmarket crowd...
or a fhm trend for the average joe... buy a crapload of men mag's they will help you out regarding categories and discussions... i think you could make $$$ from fashion... if you have promote some web company who sells suits or something like that... lots of guys bored at the office browse the net... |
I would fire everybody and put a ENTER button on it.:1orglaugh

That's the best thing about type-in domains. You've always got that option to fall back on. |
