Does anybody else not watch tv?

I rarely watch tv. I used to love it growing up. Now I just never find time for it or I'm not interested.

I can get the news from reading the paper or online. I can't watch most comedies, they're too predictable (sexual innuendo humor on tv has become lame). I

I can't watch most reality shows. Music channels are garbage. I've never been into dramas or soap operas. The sci-fi channel shows b-movies from 1950 (except for twlight zone which I wish they would re-run) over and over again.

The nature shows always have an Aussie wrestling crocodiles. I can't sit thru an entire sports game anymore. The history channel is obsessed with Nazis.

Anybody else like this? LOL

Basic_man 11-23-2004 08:51 AM

I watch like 1.5 hours of TV per week + 1-2 movies on DVD.. I think it's a waste of time ! :2 cents:

Mefo 11-23-2004 08:59 AM

I hardly watch tv, it's boring and it's a real waste of time, I prefer to work :glugglug

Martin 11-23-2004 09:02 AM

I dont watch much TV anymore.. Just when I'm in bed. I like cartoons, tlc, pbs, discovery, golf shit like that. Help me sleep.

azguy 11-23-2004 09:03 AM

Yeah I'm exactly like that. I hardly ever watch TV, its all shit with shit ads between the shit. :2 cents:

GatorB 11-23-2004 09:11 AM

South Park and Food Network is about it. Even ESPN is getting stupid with all the pool and poker programs. WTF? What's next, DARTS?

MandyBlake 11-23-2004 09:16 AM

Well we're not quite to the extent that you are, but we don't watch most television.
We've never watched a reality show on network tv.
We have been watching FoodTV, HGTV, and FitTV a lot latley.
Also, HBO and Starz whenever there is something good on.
The thing we've been doing most lately, is buying dvds and watching those.
We get to fill up our collection and be entertained at the same time.

As noted philosopher Val Kilmer once said, "TV is the anti-christ".

When I see what's on these days I'm starting to believe him.

loverboy 11-23-2004 09:33 AM

same here, only 1-2 hours spent watching TV. time to get a life soon :(

pornguy 11-23-2004 09:35 AM

We do not watch tv at all, unless we are at a friends place, and they insist on watching something. We do have a tv, but only watch DVD's on it.

TV trys to sell you too much shit that you dont need. I hate that.

StuartD 11-23-2004 09:37 AM

yeah, I haven't really watched television for about 5 years now... once you get through that first year, you begin to realize just how useless sitcoms and "reality" shows truly are and feel no need what so ever to go back to them.

I watch maybe 3-4 hours a week.. but I do like my movies, I watch maybe 10-12 hours a week.. sometimes more. T.V is boring though, internet has alot more freedom.

bignasty 11-23-2004 09:40 AM

same here, bout the only thing I ever watch is football which I don't watch too much, usually catch the game on the radio

Gheenz 11-23-2004 09:43 AM

Mostly just football on Saturday and Sunday. Other than that it's a few hours of History Channel and Comedy Central per week.

Friends was the kind of mindless fluff that drove me away from mainstream TV. I watch mostly news channels, TechTV, occasional movies, TVLand, some international stuff. TV is only a waste of time if you let it be (I owe half my computer knowlege to Leo Laporte:thumbsup). I've got 1000 or so satellite channels to surf so fortunately I'm never stuck with sheeple entertainment. The CBS Monday night comedies (Raymond, Still Standing) are the only sitcoms I watch with any sort of regularity. If I'm home at 9PM I catch 2 episodes of "Who's Line is it Anyway" on ABC Family. Now that's comedy! Shame it's no longer in production.

nmcog 11-23-2004 10:00 AM

I find TV appalling.

I only watch documentaries on BBC and Channel4 and BBC News 24.

sacX 11-23-2004 10:06 AM

don't have a tv, everything i watch is downloaded..

HammerALL 11-23-2004 11:22 AM

I don't even have cable - the only T.V. I watch is football games with the guys on Sundays at the sports bar - other than that I watch DVD's at home - it's the commercials on T.V. that made me stop watching it - I hate standing there and being bombarded with crap - that I don't want or need - ( I know I'm opening myself up here - so go ahead and insert slickcash spam joke here) - oh well - just had to vent.

Pornopat 11-23-2004 11:57 AM

I used to listen to the tv as background noise.
In my new house there is no cable so there is no possibility to watch tv.
I have not worried a second about this.

Sosa 11-23-2004 12:01 PM

I'm a TV junkie. Sports, Movies, anything pretty much heh.

Sly 11-23-2004 12:03 PM

The only TV I watch is the stuff I saw my grandparents watching as a kid and swore I would never watch that stuff, haha. I really don't like TV. I do love watching movies though.
