HELP - Big Request For All To Read
I met a Sergant in the US Army outside of the airport in San Francisco who was heading BACK to iraq from his 14 days of leave from already serving on the frontlines and in city combat. He was a cool cat indeed, I talked about the war, what I support and what I don't support, and we had a great conversation.
When he found out what business I was in he was impressed and interested. He told me a few things I will not repeat, but he said that the troops there could REALLY use the support of the adult industry over there, So I told him I would see what I could do. What I am asking for is for any Video, or Magazine Publishers to each send maybe 50 dvd's over there to his unit each and some magazines for good late night viewing. These guys are over there doing their jobs for us and I think it would be great to support them while they are hard at work. Please ship anything you can to: SGT Eric R. Goodell c/o Media From SFO 1-185 IN 81BDE APO, AE 09331 This thread should not be taken into debate, we all have our views on this war, Lets agree to disagree. I am simply asking people to hook these guys up if you can, so please keep the negative out of this thread.. :thumbsup |
This is a very cool idea Media...

Have you checked into the whole legality of it Media? I know that when I looked at sending some stuff over (books, etc.) that there are some pretty rigid obscenity laws over there. I would certainly hate to put a lot of effort into it and then get caught up in a big scandal or worse for trying to help the guys out.
You should find out first what kind of filtering process their packages/mail goes through, especially media sent and what ramifications the sender or receiver could face if it's discovered. I would hate to send a bunch of guys to Abur Ghirab or worse an Iraqi prison just so they can yank thier wanker. If it turns out to be too tight where the DVD's can be shipped send them alternate items but still show that the adult industry supports them. |
bigitybump!

Media,
we'd be happy to, I will let you know what is selected and sent. :winkwink: |

Right on....I'll try to send over some autographed 8x10 photos...That is super cool of you, sweetie!

Yeah I'm sure softcore stuff would be much better to send than hardcore.

as a former military man from desololate locations, i can tell you the value of some good porn. being out in the field is likened to being in prison. someone should tell red light district about this. they are very patriotic and i am sure that they would send some stuff their way. the best i could do is arrange some free minute packages to the pay per minute section on videopass. i'm gonna forward this to richard at red light. p.s. nice talking to you at gotham media. you are a cool cat. my server is acting wierd so i know the banner is down. |
Nice thought and would be a great gesture, but there are still restrictions, and all correspondence can be checked..
If one unit starts getting tons of porn, there'll be a red flag as big as my house and some may go down hard for it... Too much attention that could bring attention to the news media and the military will stomp all over someone just to let the American people know that their, "boys in blue" are all choir boys and it's some enemy ploy to discredit the U.S. armed forces... Just be careful... |
you cant ship porn to Iraq. Don't bother
|
OK, so far I found out it's against postal regulations (you have to fill out a customs form when sending to an APO address) and CENTCOM regulations :(
If I hear more, I'll post again. Now I feel like a party pooper! |
okay, so they all can have big circle jerks in the barracks.

a friend of mine is a medic outside baghdad.
i shipped over alot of shit what he enjoyed the most was the 12 pack of apple juice i sent. |
OK, here are a couple of other responses:
This one from a marine who's there now: "There's plenty of porn floating around...no need to send it to anybody. It's easy enough to get your hands (and everything else) on." From someone who sends things quite frequently: "Nobody that we've been sending stuff to in Iraq has indicated that porn is allowed. I think everyone is too busy to think about it. Afghanistan is a different animal so far. We are being told that if some unmarked DVDs should just happen to make it into some packing boxes that there would be no complaints. Pictures, stories, magazines are still a no-no." Don't shoot the messenger! |
