Hey people,
When registering domains, do I HAVE TO enter my real info ? Like name and address ? I just enter total bullshit there. Can I get my domains taken from me for that ?

yOU CAN, BUT i dont reccomend it....


I always use my PO BOX address , and a 3rd party email.

But if ya want you can....... but should something happen your SOL

If you use a ficticious name ... then how can you ever PROVE ownership (if it ever was challenged), or transfer the domain to somebody else, if you ever wanted to sell it ???

Don't forget ... ALL registrars require PHOTO ID to transfer a domain ...

Keev ... for "in the biz" of domains, you should have been able to point that out to him ??

Rest of the info I reccomend using a PO BOX!

Hungryman - If you use an OpenSRS affiliate then you do NOT need to show ID to transfer. All you have to do is give someone your username and password and they can change the info. Its that simple.

x-raid, depends on who you do it thru...like I said an OpenSRS affiliate does not ask for any type of ID, in fact you do it without them even knowing or caring.
http://www.easyhosting.com is who i use. But if you go to www.OpenSRS.org they have a list

With false registration info the problem only arises if you site gets into trouble. In that case they can use the excuse to take the domain away from you for breaking the agreement. Otherwise there's no problem.

how can a site get in trouble ?

Jedi.. basically if icann decides to contact you and the info you put in is bogus they'll take the domain back.

Remember that domains are a lease.. not a buy.
