Help, Canadian Webmasters

I keep getting this junk mail to my house from the Domain Registry of Canada www.droc.ca

They are sending mail to me, NOT ADRESSED TO ME, simply with my adress, so anybody in the house can open it. And it is offering me renewal on my domains. It states up top the name of my various domains.

WHAT THE FUCK CAN I DO ABOUT THIS?

I called them last year and asked to be removed, they said I had to do it by writting.

WTF is that shit.

I want to sue them.

I had 150+ domains several years ago and you can imagine the stack of mail I got from them.

Fortunately, I had already gone through my local community public roasting by then and the mail just made my postman arrive with a silly grin.

Consider it an adult webmaster rite of passage.

Not addressed to you, with just the address? Sounds pretty bad to me.

Imagine the poor young webmasters that still live at home. For mom to open the mail and read a renewal offer for "assfistingofhell.com"

Paraskass, get a hold of their fax number and do send them a notice in writing.

Take 5 or 6 8 1/2 by 11 sheets, write something creative along the lines of "fuck you, remove me" all over them.

Tape the sheets together so you have one long sheet. Now, put that in the fax and tape both ends of the sheet so it forms a loop.

Leave it on overnight.

They will get the message :glugglug

$40 bucks, what a deal......

At least they register .ca domains, now.

Last year, when I first started getting their shit, they didn't.

I called them up and toasted them.

Dildozer 11-22-2004 08:04 PM

They only did that to a few domains of mine, outta 300 maybe just about 3 or 4

I wonder how many people get scammed by them anyway, their renewals are like $40 lol

Report them to Visa and Mastercard...

They are using deceptive methods to make you beleive that you owe them money ... which you don't.

Otherwise, you can complain to the post office ( not your local one- the main on Riverside,Ottawa) and let them know that if they do nothing you will hold them also responsable.

I use to receive about 100 a year; no more know. :2 cents:

I used to get hundreds of letters from those bastards. They've probably spent $500-1,000 in postage over the years to get me to switch over my domains to them.

A few co-workers experienced the same or received the same letter mail; after contacting their domain registrar they realized they had more basket lining.

Go for a 3-pointer: skyhook and simply pitch that shit. (Canada's version of the Nigerian scam, is how I view it.)

I fuckin' get those mails too ! Arggggggggg :feels-hot
