Yeh, I have gotten a few domains blacklisted over the years. I think they recently started blacklisting domains that are traded over IMs/Chatrooms. AOL is geh, so I really have no idea if you have a chance at getting it unbanned. Plus they might try and pull some bullshit with you, if you do try and resolve it.

You should check to see if they have the entire domain blacklisted, or just a specific location. One of my domains had the index banned, but subdomains and subfolders loaded just fine.

I have gotten that error before. Worked fine on MSIE but AOL's browser wouldn't open it properly. Sometimes refreshing a few times will load the site, but a surfer won't typically do that. Other times it will load the site (slowly) but all the images will be broken. The sponsor I was using at the time told me it was a "Brazil proxy issue"... I don't know what they were talking about, but the URL never worked right again.

Big sponsors help a webmaster out-- you know it's happend to you

nofx 11-22-2004 06:50 PM

it happens on and off. aol is just stoopid.

I think they want to be referred to as America Online again.

Doing otherwise is a direct violation of their TOS and you hearby allow them to double fuck your bill for the next 24 months.

But...they'll send you a new PC for $299.

I have had intermittent problems with their SMTP services, but nothing permanent. Just occasionally flakey and usually during prime times.

Retrying always eventually worked.

I don't know about AOL but BellSouth has been giving me fits all day today. Everything was fine for awhile this morning, then my three ISP emails went out. I started getting time-out messages telling me they couldn't connect to the server. They eventually started working, but then I couldn't pop from domain addresses. I have access to about 30 different email accounts through my domains, as well as friends, family and clients I do stuff for, and only 2 or 3 of them will work at any given time. It's like potluck trying to find one that will send an email.

I've been screaming at BellSouth all day but so far I'm getting no where. I'm ready to pull my hair out.

They've been doing it for last year or so without warning. As far as I know once you are on the blocklist you can not be removed (without a lawyer).

They blacklist the ip or whole network of ip's in some cases

Holly. Take a break and go to the movies or something. Bellsouth can suck major when they want to.

As for the AOHell question. They got that name for a reason.

I read somewhere that they planned on starting to block domains like that. But. Since the AOL browser is a skin on IE, make sure that they have not changed the settings for surfing.

ztik 11-22-2004 07:36 PM

Oh, try changing the ip on your server. It may work after that.

I wish. ;)

Are you on BS? Have you had any problems today? It seems to be better now. I can pretty much pop from all of them. I'm still getting occasional errors, though. At least my blood pressure is almost back to normal, lol.

http://da.ru was the first to get blocked last January, it hasn't been unblocked since
