Dumbass Marines use a TOW missile to kill one man w/ an AK-47, destroy building.
Man w/ AK-47 escapes :1orglaugh
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.j...toryID=6884991 $200k well spent ! |
"Then they fired hefty .50 caliber machinegun rounds at the rooftop, blew up a door and stormed a living room. It was an impressive display of firepower but they raided the wrong house."
|
what would you do? - fuck the neighbors - that fucker has a gun and wants to use it on us - whoops - I missed - sorry - btw - tow missles are fun - like a video game - has a wire attached to it so you fly it in - I hate war but if it were me I would shoot any threat - and use any asset - it only takes one bullet to kill you back.

Yup. That would've done the job. |

"When they finally made it to the pulverized rooftop with smoke still rising from the machinegun bullet holes, the man with one rifle they were seeking had escaped."
:1orglaugh |
How are they dumbasses? When the buildings are as close as they are there things like that happen....not to mention it was a good choice to use the missle, rather waste $200k then lose men.

CRAZY WORLD.... CRAZY WAR!

Oh well, war is hell.
You guys that claim to know everything about the situation should go spend a few days before you cast any type of judgement. Don't forget your diapers. Sign this before you go. http://www.petitiononline.com/as123/petition.html |
That's just plain stupid.

Ok, so none of you have ever been in combat.
When you are taking fire from a concealed position, you return fire with EVERYTHING that you have. Why would you want to give a "measured" response and take a chance? How would you know, prior to clearing the position, what the enemy assets are? You guys are just silly sometimes. You REALLY would not last long in combat.... (then again, I guess that is what training, and experienced NCOs are for) |

"Sir he only has an AK-47 we need to get something of equal value to save our life....sorry sir our ammo is just to expensive to take a shot" I hear your frustration.....but given the same scenario i would not have played it any differently. Not every trigger pulled is going to hit target.... |

why not call in an air strike while you're at it ? after all, he had ak-47 !! |

my dad helped design the guidance system for the tow missile system when he worked on the bradley tank
|
Redreck with a big toy, what would you expect :glugglug

if I was a soldier given that choice I'd go for the missile everytime!

I feel like I am trying to explain getting pussy to someone who has never had it...... I think it is unfortunate that even when it is explained to you from a first hand perspective why the tactics may have been used, and you choose to come back with sarcastic comments. as such i have no time to respond again.... Out troops are doing what they can to stay alive.....I support them and the hope they return home alive.....I expect the President to be held accountable not our troops simply trying to live long enough to come home |

"Sir he only has an AK-47 we need to get something of equal value to save our life....sorry sir our ammo is just to expensive to take a shot" I am a former M1 Tank Gunner in 3rd platoon, Alpha Co. 1/64 Armor Battalion. There is no question that a tank round would be put in that Iraqi if he only had a slingshot! We never once considered any "cost" , nor was that ever an issue in our training. We just blew shit up, lots of it! |
Stupid fuckers who think "ooohhh, that's overkill, he only had a Kalishnikov" should be given one of their own, and sent in to deal with the bad guys.
Fucking assholes, you make my blood boil :321GFY I would rather see a mud-hut city leveled into uniformly-sized pieces of granular rubble before trading the life of one Marine for a thousand of the dinks opposing us. |

This Dumbass Marine is ready for Glamis....Mike and Dave are talking about it in another thread one that has far more merit than this..... and BTW nothing is worse than being flank security in a frontal assault when the A-1's are moving with all they have...... A Hummer mounted TOW can just count on getitng bounced around....people have no idea how fast an a-1 can run even in washboard desert conditions... |
And while I'm at it, and I'm certain that mr. 0352 wil concur, the TOW system is not a "safe" weapon to operate - sure it packs a punch, but the poor bastard who just fired it is attached to it, steering the missle via a long cable...
This doesn't seem to be a problem until you consider that as soon as it's fired, all the bad guys yell "Dude! There's a guy with a missle launcher!" (They know this, cuz you just popped a big ol puff of smoke when you fired it ? and they immediately fire back at you - but unlike the asshole with the AK who can duck out of the way, the Marine doing his job for his country has to sit there and take fire until his missle hits ? at which point he might have to shoot another. For those of us around when the battlefield was expected to be Germany, and the enemy, the Red Army, having the 0352 brand meant a combat life expectancy of around 15 seconds. Some of you fucking kids need a better appreciation of the sacrifices that others make for you. |
