David Stern has a hardon for Artest

A suspension for the rest of the season is bullshit and everyone knows that. Stern has a hardon for Artest and is trying to make an example out of him like he tried with Rodman, one of the things wrong with the NBA is that Stern is still there. Get rid of this fucking guy already, he pushed the NBA as far as he could and now it's on a decline because of his shitty leadership along with the shitty owners.

bringer 11-22-2004 06:44 AM

rest of the season was fair
a slap on the wrist will lead to more of this bullshit. all we need is it to go a step further and have one of those flying chairs hit a kid

DX 11-22-2004 06:45 AM

right... stern is the problem... not the undisciplined little punk prima donnas on the court.

They only get that way as a result of the leadership. A player can say pay me $20 million a year, what's wrong with asking for as much as possible, it's a greedy owner that gives it to them.

they get that way from where they come from. take a poor black undereducated kid from the ghetto who can play basketball and give him 20mil/year and he feels untouchable and for the most part is. owners have to pay that to keep good players otherwise you'll have teams like the yankees(i know its baseball) who can buy whoever they want and win nearly every year. everyone else has to play catchup to be competitive. owners will pay whatever it takes to win

People just act like owners are innocent in the whole thing and that the leadership is innocent. They like Ron Artest and the money he makes them, and they'll pimp him all they can for that til they're done and then they pimp someone else.

Sorry but if I'm on the court and someone hits me with something and I don't know what I was hit with, I'm going after someone. It happened in other sports and the guys were white so there was less scrutiny. It just so happens that most of these people were black so they gotta crack down on them hard and that's bullshit.

i never said the owners are innocent in all this, but trying to shift the blame on them is bullshit. if you're getting paid 20mil a year and someone throws something at you, you tell your security to remove that person. thats what they're there for, to protect an investment. it doesnt matter if you're black or white, taking matters such as this into your own hands puts your sport in a bad light and sends those people who arent hardcore fans of your sport looking else where. if they wanted to see you fight some overweight idiot, they'd watch ufc.

yeah but is going after someone who assaulted you first a 70 plus game suspension offense? i don't think so and if it was someone other than artest it wouldn't have been that harsh, that's what i'm saying. a few years ago an NBA player went into the stands and punched a fan for just insulting him and he got much much less than this.

yeah, he got less but these are different times. people are fed up with players taking out their rage on fans. when they watch a game, they expect to see a game, nothing more, nothing less. i think he was made an example of and this will surely make the next player in his place think twice before endangering innocent people who are there to see a game, not a brawl.

edit: i think you're right about artest being treated a little harsh, but at the same time i dont think you'd be happy with anything other than a fine.

Spunky 11-22-2004 07:33 AM

Those darkies are trouble makers

OldSchoolJim 11-22-2004 08:16 AM

fact of the matter is...the fucking guy went into the stands over a cup of water!

As an NBA player you are supposed to be above that kind of shit....i think the rest of the season is fair...remember this is not his first infraction for an altercation with a fan...

I just hope they also bring criminal chages against him..

The fans that went on the court got what they deserved...but there is absolutely no place in professional sports for a player who goes into the stands after a fan for any reason...the self defense crap will not hold water....

Obviously you must be a Pacer fan....

Rob 11-22-2004 08:18 AM

Artest is a punk!

XxXotic 11-22-2004 08:26 AM

that's a crock of shit, pussy ass artest 5 games into the season "needs time off cuz he's tired" and was considering retirement

professional fucking athlete 5 games into a season is tired. boohoo. he got the time off he wanted, now he can go promote his shitty ass rap album like he wanted to.

Artest crossed the line when he jumpd into the stands, if I were Stern I'd have banned his ass for LIFE, not just a year. Artest is lucky he got off so light

sickkittens 11-22-2004 08:27 AM

People really care this much about the NBA? :(

CE_BigB 11-22-2004 09:04 AM

shoulda been BANNED FOR LIFE !!!!

GO rap ... brutha !!

BIG B

PornHero 11-22-2004 09:12 AM

Artest got what he deserved. There is no excuse for snapping like that and going crazy punching fans because they are throwing water and popcorn at you and calling you names. Suppose he critically injured or killed someone? His ass would be in jail not suspended... Stern did the right thing. :2 cents:

Why don't you ask Michael Jordan how he feels about Ron Artest. When he was training for his pathetic comeback in 2001, Jordan got two of his ribs broken when he was slammed to the floor by Artest who couldn't take his trash-talking anymore.

axelcat 11-23-2004 02:40 PM

Stern is a bitch Ive said that since last year

detoxed 11-23-2004 02:49 PM

I think it was what he deserved.

So apparently not everyone knows it.

Agreed, I am hoping for some jail time

WPProphet 11-23-2004 03:01 PM

The real problem with Ron Artest is his inability to show restraint, to think about the consequences. I thought that he had turned the corner when he walked away from Ben Wallace after he got pushed! Where as before he would have gone after him.

But he should be punished severely for his actions in the stands, i agree wholeheartedly with his being suspended for the year only because it will send a message to the entire league that you cannot act that way. You better think before you act. If you beat someone up at your place of work you would consider yourself lucky to keep your job. And I am a St Johns fan who really thinks Artest needs severe angermanagement training.

The fan who threw the cup should also be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. His action was an assault on Ron Artest and if he had done that to anyone of us in a bar or out in public he would have gotten his ass beat.

69pornlinks 11-23-2004 06:09 PM

fags crack me up, call me what you want i'll deal with it, hit, throw, spit on me i'm knocking you the fuck out...and for the record he's only getting 5mill a year...i'll bet he'll triple that ,offa that R & B ( for you homos it's different than rap) executive producing he's prodcuing.......stern i doubt he liked artest from the get go..they usually like players who stay in their place and don't speak their mind :)

cspdinc 11-23-2004 06:13 PM

Digipimp 11-23-2004 06:15 PM

it's exactly like i said, stern just has a hardon for artest. on appeal this suspension is going to end up cut in half and same with the others on the pacers team that he screwed.

onlyreal 11-23-2004 06:22 PM
