Index Warning pages YES - NO

I was thinking if I should use a warning page. I prefer not to.
When do you think they are necessary? Do you like them?
I dont

Alltopnotch 11-22-2004 01:49 AM

no.

minimouse 11-22-2004 01:50 AM

yes

pussyluver 11-22-2004 01:54 AM

Some link sites require them.

I don't think it will help with any legal issues. (not an attorney)

Might be polite depending on the name of your URL and if you have PICS tags up (ICRA.org).

pussyluver 11-22-2004 01:55 AM

OK, call it a maybe.

foolio 11-22-2004 01:59 AM

Hell yes -- if you ever do get drug into court you want to be able to say you did EVERYTHING you could to prevent minors getting into your site.

Register your site with the ICRA and sites like them.

Put up warning pages saying basically 'minors go away'.

You are just covering your ass, and that is NEVER a bad thing.

Been a bunch or articles that say that won't work as even a slim defense. I'm not an attorney.

Never said it was a defense - but seriouly if you ever need to be it may do somehting to show you were at least TRYING to do what you could. That is never a bad idea - never.

some processors require warning pages these days, probably a smart idea to deploy them now for when things turn ugly in the future

garce 11-22-2004 05:09 AM

More advertising space.

I have a warning page that goes to one of my mainstream sites why waste the traffic just sell them something that will be appropriate for them...

Great idea. Never thought of that. I just have them sent to Yahoo.

dcortez 11-22-2004 08:27 AM

All my sites have them as a legal formality, but with search engines landing visitors right in the middle of your site most times, it make more sense to ensure the following on each page:

- Legal notices link

- Model 18+ statement

- Contact info

- 2257 link

:2 cents:

-Dino

If you don't run mainstream sites, just send them to sites like T-Shirt Hell :2 cents:

The list above is a must. With Search engines landing in the middle of a site it makes it kind of pointless for the home page warning. There is so many sites without them. For now I am going to place a link in clear view saying something like"terms and conditions for using this site" When the site gets a lot more traffic I probaly use one.

Yep, I read that also.

Hansm 11-22-2004 02:18 PM

Wrong, Make a page between like adultfriendfinder for 18+ verification. Everything is possible but noone is doing because you lose search engine visitors.

is that like when they arrest the local cocaine dealer and he knows he is guilty, but in his defense says "but I never sold to 12 year olds or addicts!"
