My F150 has a "Low Emissions Vehicle" sticker on the window. What does it mean?

What do you think it really means? I know I only get 12mpg in the city and 15mpg on the highway.

What's the sticker mean?

Spunky 11-21-2004 09:13 PM

Probaly would pass the California pollution control..It has to do with the emmisions your vehicle releases in the air, carbon monoxide etc

Rankings 11-21-2004 09:14 PM

it means that it's being kind to the environment

WarChild 11-21-2004 09:21 PM

It means you bought the bottom of the line Ford truck. They'd like to have put an F-350 sticker on, but instead you got a lousy polution sticker.

Ludedude 11-21-2004 09:24 PM

It means that you're still spewing many times the pollution that regular cars do since you're burning 3 times the fuel.

LOL. Nah. This is a pretty nice truck. Supercab, Leather, Lariat, Heated Seats... nice.

I had a crew cab diesel I bought new, but didn't really need that big a truck. This one's perfect.

It means you bought the best selling truck series for the last 23 consecutive years :thumbsup

DX 11-21-2004 09:35 PM

You know I'm teasing ... What I can't get over is the price of any pickup loaded with options these days. Incredible.

If you were just standing around looking stupid and sarcasm came up and slapped you in the face, would you still miss it?

There was no sarcasm in your reply.. you tried to be an asshole, and succeeded.

Spunky 11-21-2004 09:40 PM

We have to take our cars in every year so the government can take our 40 bucks to say our cars don't pollute that much compared to the smoke beltching diesel trucks

If you say so.

The difference between F150, F250 and F350 is duty. An F350 is a heavy duty work truck.

A base model entry level Ford truck would be a bare bones Ranger.

I was playing with Donovan and you completely missed it. That's okay, I'll draw a picture next time so the peanut gallery can keep up.

Actually, I kind of fibbed. I couldn't draw a reasonable replica of a stick figure. I'm not ashamed to admit I don't have an artistic bone in my body. :(

detoxed 11-21-2004 09:48 PM

Well I think its pretty obvious that it means its a Low Emissions Vehicle. I dont see how they can put it any clearer.

Its all pretty much do to the Pre Cat. It's a scrubber of sorts which catches alot of the shit that your engine puts out into the air. Any car that is 50 states legal will have low emissions. The Pre Cat fits inbetween your exhaust manifold and muffler. Take it off and you will get better gas milage but dont attempt to get it smogged.

DX 11-21-2004 09:52 PM

anyway... nice truck.

I wonder... is my F150 spitting out less pollution than Honda Accords pre-LEV regulations? And when did LEV regulations start?

pornguy 11-21-2004 10:08 PM

Mine was almost 30k and does not even have leather.

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Sure, even if the emissions PER GALLON OF FUEL are less, the fact that you're using 3 times the fuel pretty much negates that f eel-good marketing BS :glugglug

When the Honda Accord or any of those wind up cars can haul my 28ft boat or my 4 snowmobiles or lumber I will dump my F-350
