Will somebody die on a dangerous reality show?

The reality shows like Fear Factor or that new billionaire one where contestants partake in extremely dangerous stunts. Is it just a matter of time before something goes wrong and a contestant gets killed?

Do you think the tv industry would wipe out those type of reality shows if somebody got killed on one?

I like those shows and wouldn't want to see them end. Wondering if they'd be forced to cancel if something happened.

I think it's only going to take time.

Someone most likely has died on the set or in production already, we just haven't heard of it, and it might not have been of a direct result of "crazy reality TV".

I'm sure it will happen one day,but they won't show it

WarChild 11-21-2004 07:40 PM

Yeah sooner or later it's bound to happen. Some of those Rebel Billionaire stunts are pretty fucking ballsy and dangerous. Props to all the contestants that are doing them.

I've sky dived, and I love it. I'm not sure I'd be able to climb out on to the wing of an airplane in flight without a parachute though.

People die on movie sets and tv shows every once in a while, reality wont be any different.

the way some bigwigs of some network thinks these days. they probably would, temporarily, then if they think the public/viewers have forgotten abt the incident they would probably air it back. with different title and bit changes in the format. but basically the same as the previous one.

detoxed 11-21-2004 08:49 PM

Why does it matter if its a reality show? Like I said people die in movies, and the reality show stunts really arent any more dangerous than what stunt men do on every movie set.

Rankings 11-21-2004 08:51 PM

absolutely, any day now

Otto Man 11-21-2004 08:56 PM

I love to see that happen! Its just a matter of time, OR maybe it already happened and they just didnt aired the episode.

The major difference I see is that these are regular people doing these dangerous acts, not trained professionals that make a living from pulling stunts.

It must say in their contract they assume all risks, I'm just wondering if the networks or the public would still allow them to continue broadcasting if a contestant died.

Of course they would, not that particular episode probably. They put movies out after someone dies filming it all the time. The Crow.

Of course they will it's only a matter of time...

They do it for stars it seems, like even when Aaliyah (sp?) died her videos were aired. But even in those incidents, the theme wasn't to put average people into dangerous situations.

In the example posted here where this happened over 20 years ago http://www.ukgameshows.com/index.php...Breakfast_Show

it says that after the person died the show went off the air for two years. Personally, I'd see no reason to take it off air at all, but if somebody can show negligence perhaps networks or lawyers would say it's too much risk even if the contestants agree to do it and have the show shut down.
