The NHL is really pissing me off!

These greedy pricks need to get back on the ice and just play the fuckin game. Poor guys cant live on 10 million a year. I'm watching the Grey Cup right now and these guys dont make fuck all for money but they play hard anyway. I love to watch hockey but I may have to switch to watching the minors after this lockout bullshit. :321GFY

Word!

The Red Wings have already sent me my season tickets money back. You have to pay in Aug. in full for your reason tickets. They sent mine back as with everyone elses. Clearly they are not planning on a season this year.

The players need to take a look into recent history on what happened to baseball. The players did the very same thing and nearly ruined the league. Its taken years to get things back rolling for baseball again.

The players are clueless and this will only hurt them in the end.

I miss my hockey :(

Tons of NHL cracks are currently playing in Switzerland. So hockey is quite interesting here these days :)

Funny is, they don't get paid much. Martin St. Louis for example gets paid $2500 per game (was in the local news here)

extreme 11-21-2004 06:52 PM

With the league reps making up numbers and lying about everything it's not unlikely this will continue.

It's odd that the teams that could never survive under their suggested rules don't protest.

Yup. Crying because they don't want to accept $2 million instead of $3 million per year playing a game that they pretend to play for the "love of the game" and the fans. If it wasn't for hockey where would these guys be?

Take the pay cut already so the league can survive.

If you are on the players side youa r anidiot. they don't want a cap beause they might on make $1.3 mil a year yet they play in Europe 1/4 of that? Hmmmmm.

Players suggest a luxuray tax instead of a salary cap, now let's see.

NFL has salary cap, MLB has luxury tax.

Which sport is the best run? Nuff said.

This has to do with incompetent managers paying their players too much. If they can't balance a budget perhaps they should find another job.

Well that's not going to happen. The sytsem is broke whether you beleive it or not. You want ot pay $100 for nosebleed seats so millionarie payers can make MORE millions?

Fact is the NFL has the best system and I don't see any NFL players on welfare. It's been 17 years sicne the NFL has had labor trouble. Look at the other 3 sports. The NFL system WORKS plain and simple.

I'm a sucker. I already paid for the Kings seats and have no intention of asking for my money back. I'm so ready to go back the moment this shit starts. Such a sucker. :(

The NFL is a US thing. NHL actually has competition from other leagues.

So the question is if you want it to continue to be the best league in the world or not. I'd prefer if it wasn't, so I'd be happy with a salary cap. The russians will love that ;)

We didnt ask.. no one did. The Redwings just sent us back our money. Not just me, but every season ticket holder.

Vitasoy 11-21-2004 07:20 PM

The stars, should be paid well... It's just the the muckers and checkers should not. Some of them are being paided upwards to 3mill.

Everybody should take a pay cut including the middlemen who are overpaid to do nothing. They probably should be cut out altogether or managed more reasonably. The stars should get paid the most, no doubt.

OH you mean these same leagues that are paying NHLers $2500 a game right now? Please that's like saying the Canadian Football League is competition for the NFL. By the way over 80% of the audience for the Super Bowl is NOT from the US.

If we stopped watching every sport that had a lockout or strike what would be watch? Nothing I guess. Even the NFL had 2 strikes in the 80's. Fortunately they figured out a system that works for the owners, players AND fans.

The NHL does not have any competition. All the players who are playing in other leagues (are playing only cause theres no hockey and rather get paid in the meantime) would bolt right back to the NHL once everything has been settled. NHL is still the #1 Hockey league. Everything else is 2nd.

If you really did love the sport, you would stick with them thick and thin.

Paycut? At what degree? The middle - fringed players should have a pay scale from 1 - 1.5 mill max. The stars should be paid well. After all, fans pay to see them play.

Doctor Dre 11-21-2004 08:11 PM

I aiin't gonna go see a hockey game again ... ever

Under the NHL's proposed salary cap the average income would be $1.3 mil per year. I remember 15 years ago the minimum wage in the NHL was $25K per year. Today's players need to consider themsleves lucky and sign a deal.

DX 11-21-2004 08:13 PM

No wonder they're not talking. Do you know what's the average salary right now?

A shitload of countries also ONLY air the superbowl and none of the regular league games. Nobody gives a shit about the NFL outside US/Canada.
