Would PayPal close an account for this ??

Let's say we wished to offer affiliates PayPal as a payout option....would that violate PayPal's adultrules and stuff?

We're not using paypal on the actual 'adult' site.....and we could always say its payment for hosting (since our affiliate program offers hosting)

What do you think ?

If not, screw paypal....most webmasters should be using ePassporte anyways :winkwink:

xclusive 11-21-2004 02:19 PM

It should be fine just keep it as "hosting" related and make sure it's from a none adult email address to a non adult email...

sex.com does it ;) you can pay for ads on sex.com with paypal , they maks it as being ads for their non adult search engine

detoxed 11-21-2004 02:28 PM

Yes.

Varius 11-21-2004 02:34 PM

Cool.....guess we'll offer it shortly incase anyone wants payment that way (adding to epassporte and neteller).

Strife 11-21-2004 02:46 PM

Stay away from PayPal. Moneybookers is way better

BigWebRev 11-21-2004 02:47 PM

give it a try & get back to us :glugglug

blackmonsters 11-21-2004 03:12 PM

I think your account will be cancelled.

I had an account that was cancelled and never used it on any adult site. I only had an adult email address and recieved payments from Choker traffic at that address.

I think adult sites that still have paypal simply haven't been caught up with.

But why use them anyway. The fucked us professionally!
We didn't violate their rules when we signed up which is a legal agreement to do biz with them. Yes, they state they can change the rules; but changes in rules usaully don't mean a wholesale purge of legit accounts that deal in legal transactions.
Porn is still legal.

Why didn't they warn accounts and allow them to become compliant with any rule change? Because they didn't give a shit about us violating rules!!!!! They just decided to get rid of us and made up a rule as an after thought.

Paypal folded in on freedom of expression and I actually believe we have a constitutional right to use paypal.
If they can ban our legal expression then why can't they ban political activist sites from accepting funds?

I agree with your points.....that's why we offer ePassporte and Neteller but were hesitant on Paypal....anyhow I think affiliates/webmasters don't use PayPal as much as surfers, who we are not targeting here.

However I think because our aff program offers regular hosting and we can have the account on a clean non-adult domain, that the more options we can offer affiliates the better for us :2 cents:

Project-Shadow 11-21-2004 04:16 PM

Most aff programs did this. I know FTC did, and they got shut down... it's why most sponsors dont payout via paypal anymore.

Posting on a public forum, a question like that may not have been the smartest thing to do. They can and will suspend your account and hold the money for 6 months.

I would forget them with this one.

mkx 11-21-2004 04:25 PM

Paypal will close your account for whatever reason they feel like.

Doctor Dre 11-21-2004 04:29 PM

As long as they don'T catch you there is no problems

Mr Dickovitch 11-21-2004 04:30 PM

It's all good until you go to logon and you find that they've taken all your money you owe your sponsors and they decided to keep it. They have a new rule where they can keep your money if you break their rules, yes it's true.

We don't have a paypal account / offer paypal to affiliates yet....so I cannot see any dangers.

Varius 11-21-2004 04:33 PM

Thanks for the input guys....I think I'm just going to offer those who really want paypal a free (paid for them) ePassporte account instead :thumbsup

Mr. Mike 11-21-2004 05:46 PM

yea I wouldnt risk anything with paypal. :2 cents:
