All my machines have always been Intel

crackerboy 11-21-2004 12:45 PM

so intel is the way to go whit games then?

Project-Shadow 11-21-2004 01:05 PM

For gaming AMD is better, but you will need more RAM no matter which machine you get.. you should aim for at least 1gb.

For work Intel is better.. I personally run an intel 3.2ghz and it runs all games well so it really doesn't matter which you choose.

crackerboy 11-21-2004 01:24 PM

si it doesnt matter which one of the top i take
but i need 1 gig of ram anyway hmm

sickkittens 11-21-2004 01:33 PM

Not sure how it is w/ games, but I'm getting a good deal on a Dell.

3.0gHz Pentium 4
518MB dual DDR
80GB

I don't have the other specs handy... $349.00 w/ free shipping and 2 yr. service

crackerboy 11-21-2004 01:34 PM

thats not a bad deal man:glugglug

Odd's are you're getting an onboard graphics card = Really bad with games.

alias 11-21-2004 01:37 PM

AMD sucks :2 cents:

Vitasoy 11-21-2004 01:37 PM

Go with the AMD with those specs.

No problem for me. I don't play games anyways. He can just upgrade if he's looking for a Dell. (Their upgrades are usually cheap).

infecto 11-21-2004 01:50 PM

For the most part you won't notice any difference between those two processors. Yes there will be difference framerate wise but to the human eye you will not be able to notice it. 512mb will be more then fine for hl2 but a gig is always nice to have these days. The biggest thing imo is to drop the cash on one of the high end video cards.

crackerboy 11-21-2004 01:52 PM

Beacuse right now i am sitting on a
AMD Athlon 64 2600+

and hl2 in 800*600 is laggy as hell even on the lowest its a bit laggy

and i got 512 ddr right now and a 256 mb video card

TurboTrucker 11-21-2004 01:59 PM

What kind of card, and have you gotten the latest video card drivers?

Mr. Mike 11-21-2004 02:09 PM

OWNED 11-21-2004 02:48 PM

You should get Athlon 64 939 system.
AMD is better for gaming.

Oh, and I think you should wait couple of weeks to get a nForce4 motherboard.
