but it has some possitives also, they banned Elton John

Vengeance 09-19-2001 06:23 PM

I don't know about "banned"...

Clear Channel plays half that list here on a daily basis.

tenletters 09-19-2001 06:28 PM

Geez... there only about 3 songs on that list that don't suck anyway.

And I could go on with life without hearing those 3.

Just smoke a bowl, and move on!

Why would anyone want to ban that song at a time like this? I mean I think now more than ever it is more powerful. No matter..for some strange reason I like it in Gernman better anyway.

Smooth Criminal is banned by Alien Antfarm but not the M. Jackson version?

Blowing in the wind? So no anti-war songs.

Whatever.

Theo 09-19-2001 06:33 PM

Vengeance, then you listen a cool radio.

tenletters, which are these 3 songs that you like from the list? Don't tell me Elton John's!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE DONT!

tenletters 09-19-2001 06:39 PM

Elton can suck a fat dick!
These are semi cool but I understand why they aren't playing them after the attack.

The Gap Band "You Dropped a Bomb On Me"
AC/DC "Highway to Hell"
Kansas "Dust in the Wind"

Hey I saw the Bangles live in London about two weeks ago. They were very good!

UnseenWorld 09-19-2001 07:21 PM

Banning songs. How stupid! I didn't notice: is Country Joe and the Fish's "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag" in there? ("Be the first one on you block/to have your boy come home in a box.")

BruceM 09-19-2001 10:49 PM

I like all the songs listed below, plus a few I deleted out of embarrassment to admit I like them http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif

Of course I can see why some of them could be cause for concern, such as Black Sabbath "War Pigs", The Clash "Rock the Casbah" , and a few others.

There were some really ridiculous "banned" songs, like Louis Armstrong "What A Wonderful Life"???

Metallica "Harvester or Sorrow"
Metallica "Enter Sandman"
Metallica "Fade to Black"
AC/DC "Dirty Deeds"
AC/DC "Highway to Hell"
AC/DC "TNT"
AC/DC "Hell's Bells"
Black Sabbath "War Pigs"

Queen "Another One Bites the Dust"
Queen "Killer Queen"

tenletters, that's the quote of the month from a brilliant personality like you

On-top 09-20-2001 11:14 AM

Do not call Country Joe and the Fish crapity crap! ;-)

I have a disorder where I go into convulsions when I'm presented with censored music. Is this station for toddlers or something?

Kimmykim 09-20-2001 11:33 AM

They aren't banned. The western regional head of whatever sent out a memo to their stations suggesting that they might want to consider not playing those songs out of respect for people's potential emotions regarding the tragedy that's occurred. It's up to the individual station managers as to whether they suspend playing those or any others for the time being. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif

On-top 09-20-2001 12:25 PM

That makes a little more sense. I was not relating it to the events of last week...I understand at least where they're coming from now.

That doesn't mean I think anyone should relate "Free Falling" with a terrorist attack on NY. :-)

From a guy who is a radio DJ for my real life job, I can tell you that Clear Channel is pure evil. For more info, go to salon.com and use "Clear Channel" in the search field. Then you, too, will never, ever, ever choose radio as a carreer. If only I had known at age 15 when I started...

Tenletters, you should not open yourself up with a remark like that when you obviously don't know what you're talking about. "feel like I'm fixin to die rag" was one of the best, most controversial, anti-war songs of it's generation. I'm sure, like many, you have heard of the song, but do not know the words or the meaning behind them. You probably know it as the "gimme an F" song since that was the way it was introduced at Woodstock.

I'm sure it was not mentioned because it dealt specifically with Vietnam and the words really aren't relevent here. I don't think anyone could say "and it's 1, 2, 3 what are we fighting for? Don't ask me I don't give a damn" in referrence to recent events.
