There is a pretty big area between geeks and dumb assholes. The idea that "geeks" are more successful is just wishful thinking by geeks, the idea that something will eventually make up for their sucky life.

In reality, attractive, intelligent people with good social skills are the most successful.

If you're gonna be drawing lines, a line between nerds and geeks doesn't seem like a particularly good one. Separating the geek/nerd crowd into gamers, techies, hackers, fanboys, losers, and a few more categories would seem like a better idea - allowing overlap, ofcourse.
