Having fun trying to figure out all the shit it can do. Using the software that came with it now, but wondering what you all use to encode vids.

DVD burner would be a better description. DVD recorders are the VCR replacements. :)

How easy is it to copy a DVD? Do you need expert know-how, or can a newbie use a software?

Also, how long does it take to burn a DVD?

dvdshrink (www.mrbass.org) and nero are your friend. See this link about "fair use" copies.

When you are making legal back-up copies of DVD's you own, don't burn to DVD+R as they don't play in hardly any DVD players.

Here is a cool website that helps you learn how to use your new toy:

www.afterdawn.com

Here is a great website to get cheap blank DVDs:

www.shop4tech.com

The Matrix DVD-Rs are great and cheap.
