Nice, congrats! Didnt it feel kind of wierd to meet someone IRL you only knew online?

polish_aristocrat 11-19-2004 06:37 AM

I remember you already posted such or very similar question before.

Anyway, it's true that on the internet you can either find easy horny girls for a fast sex, or you can also enter very serious and very deep relationships...but in that case the problem is that when you meet in real life ater some time, it may lead to a disappointment from one or both sides.

Got bored at work one day and put in ad in a couple of online personals. Ended up meeting one of the girls who responded. Hooked up with her psycho ass a couple of times and then fled the city.

BitterPen 11-19-2004 06:38 AM

I have met people in person that I talked to online, but never actually had any luck.

However, a good friend of mine is married to a guy she met on AOL, back in 1999. They are a really great couple. :thumbsup

Nah, not really.. in this biz, I meet a lot of people I've only known online ;)

We've talked for like a few months, sent a lot of sms messages, so it wasn't really weird to meet each other

weird no
good yes

:thumbsup

Roald 11-19-2004 06:39 AM

I just celebrated 8 years of marriage to someone I met that way.

Peaches 11-19-2004 06:53 AM

I met a guy through a non-adult message board and it worked out very well. I think once you start talking online and on the phone you get rid of the superficial BS and really get to know each other first :)

Peaches 11-19-2004 06:54 AM

Oh, and if you don't tell us how it goes when you and Holly finally meet, we will track you down and tickle you until you pee in your pants!!

True, you can get each other VERY well...but the superficial BS still kinda counts in real life...

It depends on how shallow you are :) This was back when I was 50 pounds thinner and he was a very unattractive, overweight geek. I thought he was the sexiest thing alive due to his brains and sense of humor (and he bedroom skills were icing on the cake! :thumbsup )

Herb Kornfield 11-19-2004 07:04 AM

A few times, It can be a lot of fun. I hear the internet is the new place to meet people these days ;)

xenigo 11-19-2004 07:18 AM

I was going to type out a long drawn out explanation of how all women online are complete psychopaths that can't socialize in real life, so they turn to the cyber world to compensate for their social inadequacies.

But then I recalled that I met my last girlfriend from Yahoo Personals, and that relationship was OK for a little over a year. Had great sex daily for the entire time. Of course, when I spent some time at Internext in August and let my head clear, I realized she was just as psycho as the rest.

Yes, all women online are psycho. I'd stay away from them if I were you. I will admit, I am very weak however and cannot stay away from them if my life depended on it. I keep rolling the dice, time and time again, and I keep meeting crazy psychos. :(

Donny's had good luck with online women though.

SleazyDream 11-19-2004 07:19 AM

you think getting to know someone's mind first would be good thing........ didn't work in my experience

I think everyone, regardless of sex, is pretty fucked in the head. It pretty much boils down to which psycopath you can tolerate: the happiness you get from being with them outweighs the trauma their fucked up psyche causes you.

exactly and just because you meet someone at a bar or a club doesn't mean they are any less mental. The 'net is just the same in that the vast majority of people aren't going to be a match.

I have fallen deeply in love twice from people I met over the internet..one who will be my life partner and one who just came along at the wrong time in my life but could have been. I would never have met either of them if it hadn't been for the 'net based on geography alone.

I am not shallow at all.

But I still tend to believe that two persons who wouldnt be attracted to themselves in real life, can meet each other online, have a great time talking etc, but then when they meet, still the superficial things play a role..and they can be simply totally different in that respect....and then they decide to stay friends instead of partners..

shiZZn 11-19-2004 07:50 AM

Happend twice to me and was fun in both cases :thumbsup

well, it happens the other way around in offline life. People meet based on physical attraction and then find out they have nothing real in common.

getfreeze 11-19-2004 11:13 AM

Nanda 11-19-2004 11:18 AM

I know two couples who met on the internet and are still married!:warning

LadyMischief 11-19-2004 11:20 AM

I met my husband on the internet 12 years ago.. We never met in person for several years although we were friends, but we've been together since the minute we met :) I wouldn't trade a second of it for anything in the world.

Trixxxia 11-19-2004 11:24 AM

Answered this question before however I will repeat :) Yes, I know of many success stories from online relationships. We've been together for 5 years already. If there's an emotional attachment rather than just 'physical/lust curiosity' initiating the first meeting - there are more chances that it'll turn out to be a success!

Go meet her or have her come meet you already, quiet! What do you have to lose?

Jakke PNG 11-19-2004 11:33 AM

I met Labret and Joe sixpack after chatting on GFY, I thought they were hot. But they told me to fuck off, so not much of a success story there, I didn't even get laid.

Jer 11-19-2004 11:38 AM

I met my wife online (chat room) in 1997, we married in June 2003. :)

Perhaps they prefer short hair and you had long hair when you met

kenny 11-19-2004 05:21 PM

I have known more then one person who hooked up with girls they meant online only to discover that they weren't the girls in the pics.

What those girls are thinking is beyond me.. no warning or anything like it's no big deal to fake visual indentity..

expect one thing get something entirely different..

I say 10%-20% of girls online are faking indentity, so be carefull
