hm... how do you know if a gallery made by a designer converts or not? I heard that you can pay 100$ for the gallery, but it will convert shit, while a plain one coull be coverting very good. Any answers on that?

It depends on the content and the site it's promoting.

If it's High Quality content, you want a shitty design. This will make the content and fancy banners stand out from the page, and help to generate more clicks. And the reverse is also true. If it's a killer design and shitty content, they will want to leave to find something better. It's all about compensation and balance.

High Quality galleries with High Quality content convert like shit. It's simply "Overwhelming".

While the reverse is true. Shit content on a shit gallery will convert like shit.

Also, "conversions" have alot to do with the site they promote and where the traffic is coming from.

If the site it promotes isn't "Effective", the conversions will naturally be lower. And if the traffic is coming from a GIANT MEGA TGP that gets billions of uniques a second... The conversions will be crap. While if the traffic is coming from SEs and other traffic avenues, or even from smaller TGPs that are more niche focused, the conversions will tend to be a little better.

K.I.S.S. - keep it simple stupid. I have noticed the following is a fairly accurate order on conversions. Listed in order of best to worst.


1. design in style of site and quality exclusive content.

2. design not in style of site, but quality exclusive content. (higher click thrus than #1, but lower conversion ratios to sales).

3. design in style of site and carefully selected and purchased content. (conversion rates drop based on how accurately the content portrays the site and whether or not the surfer has seen the content before).

4. design not in style of site and purchased content (might get higher click thrus than #3, but the conversion to sale ratios will be lower).

5. design in style of site and sponsor provided free content. (content is over-exposed, but may still draw some clicks if the content is really good).

6. design not in style of site and sponsor provided free content. (find something else to do with your time).
