To Clone or Not to Clone...

Based on the movie "Godsend" (after their son was killed, they decided to clone him) I'm curious how many people would clone their child if something tragic happened. Why or why not?

matrixxxlinks 11-17-2004 10:21 AM

Seen to Much West Graven and Stephen King to feel happy by the idea some look a like is replacing some feelings that not should be there.

And who hasent seen these kind of movies with the red line storie " Dont replace humans, there is always a good reason there going to die, so dont play for God "

bringer 11-17-2004 10:21 AM

people are formed by their surroundings
i find it amusing when people talk about cloning they think taking a persons dns will remake that exact person. this might be good for some studies. clone a child 5 times and put him from crackhouse to rich house and see how they develope

Pete-KT 11-17-2004 10:22 AM

Would you really want another Juicey around here?

That is one of my points! Others I have talked to disagree...saying it's still the same child, if something happened to my son, he WOULD NOT BE EXACTLY THE SAME!!

:winkwink:

candyflip 11-17-2004 10:43 AM

I'd like to clone myself a Sunny Leone.

kowntafit 11-17-2004 10:43 AM

It's not them though, just because you clone someone, doesn't mean you bring them back. They will know that you only want them because you think they are someone else, you want them to be someone they aren't. That is pretty sad. :2 cents:

xclusive 11-17-2004 10:44 AM

Of course any parent would if they loved their child...

I, for one, would not clone either one of my kids, that doesn't mean I don't love them, they are my whole world, but don't you think things happen for a reason?

Lane 11-17-2004 10:50 AM

I'd want a clone of myself as my kid. And my mom would help me raise him. He could be perfected with her experience, and with the way I know myself.

foxylady 11-17-2004 10:55 AM

if given a chance of course i want to clone myself :glugglug

pornguy 11-17-2004 10:58 AM

I dont think that I would. If something happened the first time that he or she died. then I dont think I would want to go through it again.

That would be very interesting......

Thanks for the input...

Yes I believe that things happen for a reason and god created cloning so it could be used otherwise he wouldn't allow it to happen...

I know, my husband has said the same thing, but it just doesn't seem "natural", I mean yeah a goat or something, I have no oppostion to that, but I just think a child is different, everyday things make them who they are, don't you think so?

My sentiments exactly!

:winkwink:

OzMan 11-17-2004 11:42 AM

Cloning your child to bring them back is dumb.

It would be like adopting a child and then forcing them to do plastic surgery so they looked exactly like the dead child.

It is a different person inhabiting the body.

Cloning organs to save lives on the other hand :thumbsup

MetaMan 11-17-2004 11:43 AM

i am 100% against cloning, the world is full of ugly ass people, the last thing we need is clones of their ugly ass kids. :1orglaugh

Vitasoy 11-17-2004 11:51 AM

Cloning humans no, but animals and pets... i'm all for it.

I support the cloning of intelligent, creative, non-violent, mentally stable individuals. By sterelizing the lower classes and cloning the elite, our society will eventually reach a golden age, a time when Nietzschean Supermen will populate our world.

nope. it wouldnt be the same if you now your son was just a clone of the original.

NichePay_Manny 11-17-2004 01:13 PM

Clone :thumbsup

That's one of my points, you can't "re-create" a child, esp. our son, he's unique, even the slightest difference would mean he's NOT the same child, maybe DNA wise...but in my opinion he's not the same.

Thanks for your opinion! :)

MiaVega 11-17-2004 02:36 PM

bump.

RayVega 11-17-2004 07:24 PM

You non-cloners are full of shit. If any of you lost a child, you give your left nut to create another just like him/her (not him or her...but "just like" him or her).

"Before you judge someone, walk a mile in their shoes...then at least you'll be a mile away, and you'll have their shoes."

Likewise.....but if she wasn't down I'd have to settle for Jenteal.....or just steal Sunni's comb for her hair (Thank you CSI)

agreed...

and for the 'don't play G_D' issue...

if G_D didn't want us messing with it, 1) we would have not been allowed to come this far knowledge wise and/or 2) we'll end up quitting if it turns out to be a disaster...

if you believe in an ominpotent G_D then he/she could stop this, no?

I didn't know that the bible said "go forth and multiply but only in the missionary position"

what about test tube babies?

what about all sorts of other fertility methods and such?

what about antibiotics? shouldn't what's supposed to happen happen?

Alex 11-17-2004 07:49 PM

I wouldnt clone a child or want myself cloned. Because its not really me or my child. Its just a clone. It only looks like the person

And believe me, when you reaaly want that person back...looking like them will be enough to sort of make the eternal living hell you go through 1/4 more livable.

detoxed 11-17-2004 08:38 PM

NO I'd clone someone hotter

Is there anybody out there that agrees w/ that statement?

I for one, DO NOT, and I would NOT CLONE my CHILD, he was given to me for a reason, if he's taken from me, there's a reason for that too.

I'm not against cloning, I would probably clone my 2 pure bred cats, if something ever happened to them.

Exactly. Nature and Nurture make a person, not nature alone. You're not going to get Johnny back even if you "clone" him.

clueless 11-17-2004 08:42 PM

That's a tough question to answer. You may clone a certain person, but it still wouldn't be the same. It may have the physical aspect, but apart from that everyhting would be different.

SugarSusan 11-17-2004 09:48 PM

another me or ya in this world??!!!! I dont think so! :BangBang:
