Kmart will be phased out in time of course.

Sears will want to revamp the look altogether plus once martha stewart gets outta jail, its going to make MAD bank for Sears.

Masterstroke of a deal.

eithor way both companys are being run into the ground by walmart, they are only prolonging their death

Sears has a higher-class image so if they actually keep their prices near Wal-marts then I think they'll attract a large consumer base..

Sears is in almost EVERY mall in the country. Wal-Mart isn't.

That's a big plus for K-Mart/Sears.

being in a mall doesnt mean much
why drive downtown and goto the mall when you can go around the corner to walmart and get a better deal? if someone is going to buy some tools or a dryer, maybe they'll make the trip
but day to day stuff will goto walmart
people want easy access and cheap prices

Red Ezra 11-17-2004 12:20 PM

ArkansasDave 11-17-2004 12:41 PM

I don't live in the sticks. Walmart and the mall are seperated by a parking lot.

No, they did in 2001 Im pretty sure and came out of it early 2002. Then started trading on the stock market again. I bought up 10k in shares at .66 each. I had been up to about 6.00 a share and I almost sold. I need to see where Sears is at. :)

Wow big merger :thumbsup

I don't think Sears will go the walmart route (big discount store), I believe they will use K-marts infrastructure and excellent relationships it has with dealers to negotiate lower prices and increase margins across the board.

Sears has made so much money off their credit cards it's ridiculous. When I worked there in College, many old time managers told me the only reason Sears was still in business after all the years was because of the Sears Card.

I think this is a good deal for both companies IMHO
