question for those that reside OUTSIDE of the USA

We are contemplating what kind of surprises we can come up with for our affiliates for Christmas, and I was wondering, if I send an Amazon gift certificate to you in England, the Netherlands, Hungary . . . would you be able to use them?

Dagwolf 11-15-2004 11:45 PM

Fruitcake. :thumbsup

Certainly amazon.com gift certificates can be used in the UK - don't know about the other countries but I would assume so as they're happy to ship overseas

maja 11-16-2004 01:22 AM

can you use them to purchase online and shipped to you?

You think Amazon doesn't ship overseas?

You Americans should get out more.

d00t 11-16-2004 04:35 AM

amazon ships worldwide

Jer 11-16-2004 04:37 AM

Yes.

Tipsy 11-16-2004 04:45 AM

It may be easier to have it in the correct currency though.

I like amazon certificates. There's always something I can think of to buy from them :)

J B 11-16-2004 04:58 AM

Amazon gift certificates are a good idea. While I like getting gift baskets I don't like to pay hundreds of euros customs every year. Luckily some companies started to order the gift baskets they send out from European companies last year, so less customs to pay now :)

chupachups 11-16-2004 05:00 AM

Sure, no problem at all

evanmorgan 11-16-2004 05:04 AM

send me one now, ill test, and tell you if it works :1orglaugh :Graucho

You have the internet outside the US????

blazin 11-16-2004 05:16 AM

You can send country specific Amazon gift certificates, so yes.

CamMaster 11-16-2004 05:17 AM

We've got only very fast 14.4 kb/s dial-up modem connections outside the US if you live in a cave... the rest of us still live in trees...

Almost everyone does, but there's customs issues. If I order shit from the states I need to pay customs.

But amazon certificates would work I assume, since I can order stuff within EU without customs (amazon.co.uk for example) :)

pradaboy 11-16-2004 06:25 AM

i don't think it would be such a great idea for the Netherlands. We have no specific dutch Amazon so we have to order from Amazon.co.uk

mortenb 11-16-2004 06:41 AM

I'm in Denmark and if you send me a 100$ gift certificate right now I will gladly check out if it works.. :thumbsup

webmaster x 11-16-2004 06:47 AM

yes, i think so. amazon has a good reputation.

Sarah_Jayne 11-16-2004 07:40 AM

amazon.COM gift certs can NOT be used on the UK version of amazon. You would have to get them from amazon.co.uk or they can only be used to order from .com and most of the time that is pointless since the customs charges are more than the acutal item and a good number of the things they won't even deliver overseas. I think that many European countries can use the amazon.co.uk gift certs.

Half the time on boards I can't claim for prizes because they give amazon.com vouchers that are useless to me.

12clicks 11-16-2004 07:48 AM

second question:

what's it like to live without air conditioning in all buildings?

For people in the EU get the gift certificates from Amazon.co.uk (you can get them online with no problems).
I don´t order from amazon.com becuase I get hit by 25% sales tax and then an extra tax depending on what product I bought.

If I order from amazon.co.uk I only have to pay the difference between the UK and the Danish sales tax.

ezrydn 11-16-2004 08:31 AM

Amazon does NOT ship to Mexico! And we're just "next door!"

Steelhead 11-16-2004 08:37 AM

Spain Sí

johndoebob 11-16-2004 08:40 AM

Yes - but you can't use them at your local amazon as far as I know.Better ask amazon first before you purchase them.
