End to pop-up hell
If, like me, you find surfing some sites to be a major pain the the arse, and don't want to mess about downloading something like proximitron, may I suggest you try the latest build of Mozilla from http://www.mozilla.org ?
It's got a setting (you have to edit a file by hand, no way to do it from the UI yet) to stop all window.open() javascript calls only during document load and unload events. However, window.open() is allowed at all other times, so a window opening at the users request (say by clicking a link) will continue to work. It will stop most pop-up and pop-under ads, which makes me happier, if I see one more discovery card window I may end up using some harsh language. Since Mozilla doesn't stand much chance at becoming as popular as IE, and I doubt MS would cripple MSN's advertising methods, it's doubtful that IE users will ever get this option built into the browser, so those of us who like to subject our surfers to pop-up hell can continue to do so. ------------------ ClickCash - Better than 1:99 and $50 for signing up |
sp with programs like that stopping popups, programs blanking out banners and TOPTEXT replacing words on your page with THEIR advertisers.
