GRRR! Why are cigarettes so fucking addictive?!?

I'm out of smokes and havn't had one in a least 24hrs (which is a RECORD)... I'm using all the will power possible to keep myself chained to my chair and not go out and buy another pack... i figure i've gone this long might as well keep going... but it's sooo hard :(

Post reasons why I shouldn't go out and grab a pack right now.

Mr. Merchant of Death
written by Kevin Smith

Chewlie's Rep: You're spending what? Twenty, thirty dollars a week on cigarettes....Fifty-three dollars. Would you pay someone that much money every week to kill you? Because that's what you're doing now, by paying for the so-called privilege to smoke! ....It's that kind of mentality that allows this cancer-producing industry to thrive. Of course we're all going to die someday, but do we have to pay for it? Do we actually have to throw hard-earned dollars on a counter and say, "Please, please, Mr. Merchant of Death, sir; please sell me something that will give me bad breath, stink up my clothes, and fry my lungs. ....Of course it's not that easy to quit; not when you have people like this mindless cretin so happy and willing to sell you nails for your coffin....Now he's going to launch into his rap about how he's just doing his job; following orders. Friends, let me tell you about another bunch of hate mongers that were just following orders; they were called Nazis, and they practically wiped a nation of people from the Earth...just like cigarettes are doing now! Cigarette smoking is the new Holocaust, and those that partake in the practice of smoking or selling the wares that promote it are the Nazis of the Nineties! He doesn't care how many people die from it! He smiles as you pay for your cancer sticks and says, "Have a nice day."

I quit um, about three weeks ago and feel ten times better than I have in years. The energy you have after you stop smoking is amazing. Foods and drinks taste SO different, and SO much better.

It's the best thing I've did for myself ever.

its all bout the habbit, havin somethin in your hand, doing something at the moments where nothing is going on,

try to eat sunflower seeds, it will keep u ocupied and u will think less about smoking.

Steen2 11-15-2004 12:50 AM

Because they find their way int othe hands of people with little self control :Graucho

Have someone hold your head under water till you are about to pass out from not being able to breath and lock that sensation of pain and fear into your brain.

That's what it'll feel like day and night when you're older and have lung cancer and won't be able to breath well anymore.

You know all the reasons not to buy smokes already. Go out and get yourself the patch, it makes dealing with cravings much easier. :2 cents:

you're right it is almost all habit. i can break it down to like 2 ciggarettes a day that i actually may enjoy. but whenever i get bored, or nervous, or stressed, i want a cig. fucking sad ass habitual oral fixation that i NEVER should have started.

who knew, my parents were totally right about not smoking. damnit, the one time i should have listened.

when I am nervous or bored I want to smoke cigs
but in my spare time I hardly ever smoke. I pick up a pack when I go out drinking and partying because thats when I mainly smoke.

in my spare time, i stick to the ganja. :winkwink:

one thing that works well for me to not smoke cigs, is if everytime i want a cig, i just pack a bowl. eventually i get so stoned i don't even want to smoke a cig.

They influence the brain cells of human so when you stop smoking your organism feels unstable. It's not just a psychological issue like many believe.

bizmak 11-15-2004 06:38 AM

quit them, that shit will kill you.

plyndrty 11-15-2004 06:44 AM

Hang in there man.

Just think of the 3 minute rule... When you start to have a need to smoke, if you keep busy its goes away in 3 minutes.

And if that dosen't work then just hang in man and it will get better. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!:thumbsup

groark 11-15-2004 06:47 AM

Well I quit about 3 weeks ago and it's going fine now.
After you made the first days you are fine.. Well I was..
Just try thinking you are smarter than smoking people or take it as a challenge where you have to proove how strong your will is--
