Does anyone actually rent movies anymore?

Seriously, do you go to the local video store to rent movies? Why anyone would do that anymore is beyond me. I can watch any movie I want via pay per view and I never have to pay a late fee or drive back to drop it off.
Just curious...

It's not the drive really, it's that awful walk into the store from the parking lot.:glugglug

Where do you watch movies online? I've been looking for something like this for awhile now. I've found loads of places for porn, nothing for mainstream movies.

I currently use blockbuster.

I have that one as well and end up renting atleast 2-3 movies a day, so that's around 70 movies for $25.00 and if I get lazy and don't want to swap them out, they can sit around here for months if I don't feel like taking them back. :Graucho I have a 3 movie cap (per checkout) though, so I have to switch them out when I'm done watching if I want 3 more.

PPV and Movies On Demand are seriously lacking in selection. Rent like crazy, and buy a shitload of movies, too.

mardigras 11-15-2004 12:39 PM

I've stepped into a video store twice in the past year and ended up buying something rather than renting.

On a big dish you get a ton more digital feeds than little dish and most cable systems when you order a movie channel (like 25 or so for Showtime, a few less for HBO). Between that and the couple thousand other channels I feel little need to go out and rent. I'll buy a few in Walmart occasionally and those things I want to see that end up not available locally or on satellite I pick up at amazon.com or ebay.com for out-of-print stuff.

Donny 11-15-2004 12:41 PM

It's not a hell of a lot more to just buy them, which is what I do.

Ian 11-15-2004 12:52 PM

Yup, ever since my Direct TV card got changed. :(
