Fuck Netflix. Get a BLOCKBUSTER unlimited rental pass

For only 25 a month, you can rent out two videos per VISIT...Notice how I said "visit" and not "day"...So you can go in there and rent two videos, walk out, and walk back in five minutes later and rent two more videos.

Plus unlike Netflix, where you have to return the videos in order to get more, you don't have to return the videos with blockbuster to get more. So you can walk in there all day over and over and rent out the whole store and you don't have to return them as long as you keep paying the $25 a month....Plus the first month is only $16.

I got my pass yesterday afternoon and I already watched three movies (Soul Plane, Farenheit 9/11, Sweetsweetback's badassss story) and I'm about to get some more this afternoon. It's gonna be a blockbuster night EVERY night from now on in my house.

Get it..it's well worth the money.

JakeR 11-14-2004 09:25 AM

the selection blows at blockbuster compared to netflix.

hyper 11-14-2004 09:26 AM

blockbuster and netflix both suck.. use walmart

JakeR 11-14-2004 09:28 AM

i signed up for blockbuster.com's rent by mail program this month, was very disappointed in it. the first 15 titles i picked had 'short wait' or 'long wait' on 'em. pissed me off.

We have the Hollywood Video $9.99/month deal... Rent 3 free movies every day of the month if you want to. The only thing it doesn't cover for free are the Newest New Releases... i.e. Van Helsing, Shrek 2, etc... but after a couple of weeks, those are added to the list of free rentals. It's great for our kids. They get to rent all kinds of movies from the kids sections that they normally wouldn't rent.

:thumbsup

Vitasoy 11-14-2004 11:17 AM

That's a great deal, for those vivid watchers and gamers.

marzzo 11-14-2004 11:18 AM

Blockbuster edits their movies, they're like Disneyland - it's all an illusion.

astnfan 11-14-2004 11:25 AM

I have that blockbuster movie pass and they do it like netfilx. You can rent as much as you want for $24.99 but you can only have 2 movies out at a time. Which is how I think its supposed to work.

Otherwise someone could signup on a new membership with a CC that has barely enough money for the first month, rent the whole store, and then have a new DVD collection.

That isn't true at my store...I thought the same thing when I returned one of my two videos I initially got earlier that day so that I could get another one. The girl behind the counter EXPLICITLY told me that I didn't have to return the video to get another one. So I EXPLICITLY asked her, "So I can just show back up and get two more movies without returning the first two?" and she said YES.....You are limited to 2 PER VISIT not 2 at a time.

So all you need to do is have $16.01 on your card and you CAN rent out the store in one month and just leave.

How much an hour are they paying this girl?

She was mistaken..... its two out at a time.

I got the blockbuster movie pass and I just cancelled it and am going back to netflix.

Why?

I can NEVER see a new release movie at blockbuster until its been out for several weeks....they're always out of stock now.
They didn't increase their inventory when they went to the new billing model.

I switched to the blockbuster pass so I could watch new movies on Tuesday when they came out instead of waiting a couple of days for netflix to ship them to me.....but now waiting two days for netflix is faster than waiting 3 weeks for blockbuster to have the movie in stock.

Plus netflix has a much bigger selection and they've never been out of stock on anything I wanted to rent.....AND they're only 17.99 a month for 3 movies at a time instead of $25 a month for two movies at a time.

:2 cents:

Netflix has a couple competitors these days but I just can't drop them. I love the service. Absolutely no complaints at all. Over the past year and a half I've probably rented around 100 movies, only one had problems. The 2 day movie return is just phenomenal too. I mail in my movies Monday and have new movies Wednesday. Its great.

Babagirls 11-14-2004 12:36 PM

I fuckin love Netflix. $18/month, home delivered in a day, great for lazy webmasters! lol :thumbsup

Wiggles 11-14-2004 12:48 PM

thats an awesome deal, if you lived close it would be even better.

SinisterStudios 11-14-2004 12:52 PM

If your looking for Adult movies try DvdWishes.com and get all the porn you want in your mailbox. $17.95 a month

hottoddy 11-14-2004 12:53 PM

Yeah, the problem with Blockbuster, Hollywood video and the like is that they only carry so many movies. I only rent a few a month from them, as there's rarelyl anything I want to see. At Netflix, you can get virtually anything. I would lose money on the Blockbuster pass.

SmokeyTheBear 11-14-2004 12:54 PM

if your canadian you should use

www.zip.ca

free shipping
no late charges.

Halcyon 11-14-2004 12:54 PM

IMHO, Blockbuster and Walmart are NOT the kind of corporations you should be supporting if you can help it.

For me:
Netflix.com for movies
WantedList.com for porn

Like 10 years ago , every video store was a local mom & pop operation. now its a MONOPOLY.

Just another one of those stores that counted on BIG INVESTMENT money to starve out the local ops, by offering services at below value.

Exactly. And they lean VERY conservative -- Putting pressure on distributers for clean versions and such.

Yes, where I lived 7 years or so ago there were quite a few private owned video stores and only 1 Blockbusters, now we have no private owned Video store, and 4 Blockbusters. sucks because I boycotted them 3/half years back

Sarah_Jayne 11-14-2004 02:30 PM

I have been using the UK version of Blockbuster's mail order DVD delivery thing for the past six months or so. I guess it is like Netflix but we don't have netflix over here. I have to say that it truly rocks. For £20 I can have five dvds out at any one time and as soon as I send one in they send me back one..I am sure that is how they all work but I have actually cancelled all but one of my cable movie channels (kept the art cinema one). I am seeing way more subtitled and documentry stuff than I would ever have been able to see otherwise.
