How big should a tour be and are trials good or bad?
 

So how many pages should a tour be to get someone interested in a site and are free trials an admission that the tour is not good enough to sell the membership at the full price?

I''ve been looking around at a few tours and some of the most successful sites have very simple tours, Karups, Alsscan for instance and cookie cutter tours seem very old hat.

single page tours work just as well as multiple page tours if not better in some cases. If you feel comfortable with free trials and are confident that they will stay members, go for it.

The questions are too general.
If you do reality the number on free tour pages may equals the nubmer of episodes you have in member area and it won't make sells worse.
Classic may be tour is 2-3 pages.
It depends on your vision of the site.

If you are shure that serfers won't rebill on your site you'd better not use trials. The ratio will be lower but the summary income higher.

I can tell you now, free or cheap trials dont work. I droped all my cheap trials on my sites and only use sponsors who go straight to full price, no trials. Beleive it or not I almost doubled my income overnight.

I believe the reason is this. When someone signs up for a cheap trial, the first think they look for is the cancelation. Usually before they have even seen the content. When the customer doesnt have the urgency factor there because they have already signed up for a month. They will have the chance without preasure to see if its what they like. If the site is updated everyday, they will get used to the site and want to stay, they never had that opportunity with a 3 day trial.

The second reason that you will make more not offering trials is a simple one. Price will never be a concern to someone who wants to wank over your porn. If they like what you offer and want to see more they will pay, they wont look around for a cheaper site that maybe doesnt offer what they want.

Plus also surfers distrust adult websites. A site that says we will give you all this for two bucks or even free, but we need your credit card doesnt look trustworthy, we all know you cant give that much porn for $2, so they will think maybe its a con trick. Where as a site that says, you can have all this, but its $29 looks like a real business thats offering porn at a realistic price.

Many may dispute what Im saying, but I can promise you this, if you drop the cheap or free trials and go straight to full price subscriptions, the amount of sign ups will fall a very small amount maybe, but your income will rise alot.

I have done this with every sponsor I can and all without exception has performed this way

A question tho, why would anyone build a site that surfers wont rebill on, is the plan to rip everyone off once and move onto the next sucker?

I realy dont see the point in that, rather then some quick cash.

However about people ripping off surfers and moving onto the next one. Well unfortunatley that was the model this industry was based on. For different reasons, one not being able to buy the content, not knowing the difference between a picture of a naked girl and a porn picture and the very nature of some people on the Adult Internet.

It all worked because of the uneducated surfer. Today with Visa's help we are getting to a situation that works. But I still get people who think they can buy a blow out sale and stick it up on ten sites and make money.

I haven't had trials on any of my sites since 01... members will pay for quality

Jonny Traffic hit it on the head... all good points... I had Pineapplepink priced at $24.99, I raised it to $29.95 and it did not affect sign up at all. I Raised it to $29.95 for one reason, to make more money for affiliates. Just my :2 cents:

Just one more point... Anyone using DRM on there sites should have a "token" option also. It works very similar to a trial as a surfer can download any movie of there choice for a few bucks. They see the quality of the movie and have sampled the sites content (of the surfers choice) before commiting to a full months membership. In doing this, the surfer knows what to expect from your members area and you of course increase your revenue.

I call BS. Full price memberships don't sell TWICE as well as trials. We have done EXTENSIVE testing on full price $24.95, $29.95 memberships and we have found that our new $1.95 3 day trials convert at least twice what $29.95 memberships do.

If what you say is true (an't its NOT true) then all programs would drop trials and use full memberships and double there sales and profit margins 200%. Paying $25-35 on 3 day trials an't easy but it increases sales BIG TIME! And can be done without shaving using software like NATS.

Lots of programs are droping free or cheap trials. Free or cheap trials dont convert twice as much as full priced trials with any of the sponsors Ive used. Without exeption I made more from all my sponsors once I droped the cheap or free trials. On all of my own 6 sites my sales only droped a bit, while my income rose dramatically.

Your point about everyone would do it isnt correct, there has never been an industry that Ive worked in that has as many sheep as this one. Most programs just copy what each others are doing, without actually testing results. Me included, when I started my sites, I did the same, I saw everyone else doing cheap trials, I thought that must be the best way. But I was wrong, it wasnt. Since then Ive had time to monitor it. What I found was dramatic increase in income and only a slight decrease in sales.

I have to agree with ihm on this one.

Let's face it this is a dollar a day to jerk off until your balls shrivel. I think if you have the content right and can show it, then anyone not prepared to pay a dollar should try elsewhere.

as many tours, and as long a tours as possible. always leave yourself options for sending different traffic to different looking tours to convert it better.
